I like our CHL, I wouldn't like just anyone carrying.

This story can't be true. HR says that prohibiting carry at work prevents disgruntled employees from shooting people.

A bullet in the chamber would be inert without a casing, powder, and primer. And that would be a magazine, not a clip.

Thus the death of the puppies.

When need to layoff the use of term "clip" as an offense. For God sake, A Layman Lebanese will use the term "Comb" for said "Magazine".
Each time I hear a Clip, I said no, it is a Comb!

Comb very much looks like a loaded Magazine. Imagine, a back-bone and Comb's teeth are the bullets.

Verrrry interesting! I never thought of it that way. I have gotten to the point in my life that I just take the whole magazine/clip thing with a grain of salt and trudge on. Comb, I like that. :thumbs2:

Thinking about the stripper clips for loading AR mags or for the Mosin-Nagant, I can easily see that. It works.

...magazine vs. clip, silencer vs. suppressor...the controversy is both anal and banal...and the only good it serves is to give those who jump excercise...what matters is that the message is understood...and there's not a member here who really doesn't know that when someone refers to a clip they mean magazine...or silencer that they mean suppressor...it's a rose by any other name...but I love the puppies so whatever it takes to get us puppy pictures...and everybody needs more excercise...

Your inability to understand our need to feel superior to someone else is both disconcerting and discombobulated. :fire

He didn't shoot anyone. According to the story in the initial post, Mr. Trammell "was arrested Wednesday when he returned to his downtown workplace carrying a loaded handgun and extra ammunition in his shorts." If anything, it sounds like the policy worked in this instance.

You're right that he did not shoot anyone. But why do you think he came back with a gun?
And it wasn't a "no carry" policy that worked; it was a "no psycho ex-employee" policy.

Depends on the context. Sure, if someone on this forum asks about clips for their 1911, then of course we know they mean magazines, and only a few will offer a "correction." But in another universe I live in, when I'm not on this forum, in the M1 Carbine world for example, if someone asks where to get clips for their carbine, they're most certainly not going to get info on magazines. If they come back and say they meant magazines, then they will be corrected. Not in an attempt to be condescending, but rather to point out that clips and magazines for that weapon are two very different items, and if you want to find what you are looking for you need to use the correct terminology.

As for the news story in the OP, yes we know they meant magazine, but as with all things concerning the press reporting about weapons, they usually don't get it right anyway, as all handguns are Glocks, all rifles are AK-47s, and all "clips" are evil devices that spew thousands of rounds per second.
