(AP) — A masked man carrying a gun and a machete entered a parked car and opened fire on five young adults inside, killing the driver and a passenger and wounding the others, then pushed aside the driver's body and drove off with four of the victims inside, authorities said, in a startling burst of violence even for a city consistently ranked as one of the nation's most dangerous.

Impossible. That sort of thing is against the law. Firearms must be carried unloaded in a locked container inaccessible to the driver.
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

All firearms were inaccessable to the driver. AAAAaaa & all the passengers.
That is why they are dead.

A little quote about the CHL laws of New Jersey...
It is no wonder Camden N.J. Is considered one of the nation's most dangerous cities.... A state of 8.8 million potential victims is truly a "target rich environment" for any BG...New Jersey is a May-Issue state, and issues permits to residents and non-residents. An applicant typically must demonstrate the presence of a "clear and imminent threat to his or her life" before being granted a concealed carry permit in New Jersey. Out of a population of 8.8 million people, there are less than 1,000 handgun carry permits in the state (including armed professionals other than law enforcement officers). As a result, New Jersey is effectively No-Issue.

In this case it would not have made any difference. All the occupants of the car were between 16-20 yr olds. They would not qualify for CHL, even here in TX.TXPPQ wrote:A little quote about the CHL laws of New Jersey...

I wonder what a car full with "young adults" and a minor were doing parked in an alley late Saturday night. Wait, never mind.

I was under the impression that in Texas while you cannot purchase a handgun until age 21 you can poessess one starting at age 18 and if that is true wouldn't they have been protected under MPA?

Here in TX, you are correct. But in NJ, I doubt they have anything like MPA. NJ is a "may issue" state and very few people have CHL's. Most likely, even if the had all been over 21, they would not have been armed. That is, unless they were members of a local gang, since the law does not apply to them.
