Police have arrested drag racers who were not involved in an accident, for leaving the scene after an accident involving the other car they were racing.

So I really don’t see a difference in this case.

I never saw anything about the man who was egged firing a gun.

https://www.click2houston.com/news/dead ... to-100-mph

Man reported fired at the teenagers in the car from his vehicle. Speeds during the chase reached 100 mph.

Sounds like this guy is going to go down and for good reason.

The principle is called felony murder. Egging a car is almost certainly not a felony. Robbing a bank clearly is. There's the difference.

They claim that their first victim drew a gun. We should believe this why? I would not rush to judgement on whether an unknown man "pulled a gun" and got away. Perhaps but that's their story.
I am very skeptical of the teens story.
Crazier things have happened. If the story is true the guy is too stupid to breathe much less carry a gun.

I thought that's only required if you're in a vehicle involved in a collision.

Are they going to charge everybody who drove past without rendering aid?
If the story is true and he was chasing them he was the proximate cause of the accident since he triggered the actions that led to the fatal crash.

Guy who “brandished” his gun and chased the 14 yo driver, who then ran a red light and killed an innocent woman has been indicted for manslaughter.

They did not call it brandishing the DA called it: aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Also left the scene of the accident and failed to render aid. Didn’t say LTC.
An adult should know better and he'll almost certainly be punished much more harshly than the kids he was chasing. My guess is he'll get 4-7 years if not more assuming no prior felonies or serious misdemeanors.

No chase, no crash.-------no egging, no chase, no crash.

The principle is called felony murder. Egging a car is almost certainly not a felony. Robbing a bank clearly is. There's the difference.------- innocent person was still killed during the commission of a crime.

The criminals were fleeing the scene of a crime when the getaway driver ran a red light and crashed into an innocent woman.

That was the proximate cause of the fatal crash.

Criminal mischief is a misdemeanor but unauthorized use of a motor vehicle is a state jail felony.

If the unlicensed getaway driver had consent to drive the vehicle, the owner should be charged as an accessory in the woman's death, and also be named in the wrongful death lawsuit.

A minor misdemeanor. Had he not pursued them unlawfully there would have been no accident.

It is the fault of everyone involved except the innocent woman of course.

If somebody flees from the cops and causes a fatal wreck, it's the cops fault for chasing them?

Got it!

The getaway driver running a red light may be a minor misdemeanor but that doesn't change the fact it's how the getaway driver killed her.
