Hunting Vehicles Targeted by Thieves

#1

Post by Pawpaw »

We've all seen the warnings about pro-gun stickers inviting vandalism. This article reports vehicles with those and hunting stickers being targeted for "smash & grab" burglaries.

Where? Dallas, of course.

This story is exactly why I don't put any firearm related stickers on my car.

Lowlife scumbags are everywhere- not just DFW. In the St. Louis, Missouri area thieves were targeting bands' vans that were either performing in the area or passing through. Breaking in and stealing all the equipment- sometimes in daylight in a restaurant parking lot.

These stories are always out there. Seriously though people just aren't vigilant enough. My truck is setup for hunting, and fishing. I have tons of gear inside, but none of it is visible. Everything is inside the truck cap and all the windows to the cap are covered with blackout fabric and secured with 3/16 inch squared steel rods. I have a two way alarm with a glass break, field disruption, and motion detection sensor system, and a 4 channel dash cam system that is setup for motion detection and shock detection watching front, rear of the truck and left/right inside the cab. Even with all of my security I still only park in extremely visible areas directly in front of where I'm going in. My truck has never been touched or even looked at as a theft target. I know because I check the dashcam footage daily.

The world is rife with crime and opportunistic scum bags. This is no longer a condition white world. I'm condition yellow at all times.

The Deep Ellum (an ethnic pronounciation of Deep Elm St.) area of Dallas is
just on the other side of US 75 from downtown Dallas proper (where the skycrapers
and Art District are).

It was a hip area of places playing live music. Unfortunately many music bands
have had all their equipment stolen while gigging there. Add to that the fact
that some of the bars have stiffed them, moneywise, and you have a music
venue that is now not what it used to be.

I have had 3 different vehicles broken into and one stolen, but none in the last 19 years. After I put pro gun stickers on them. That is my experience. Oh and I have a relative (by marriage) who is anti-gun but has a pro-gun sticker or two on his truck and he has experienced the same. I guess it could be a coincidence.
