I'm beginning to wonder if I actually got it! Signed up by phone on the 16th, but so far the charge has not hit my Amex card. Also, they didn't ask for my membership number, so it may have gone in as a new membership. (I did tell them I was a current member, and the response I got back was, "Good". <shrug>)

Somewhere in this thread people were checking the status of their upgrades. Could somebody give me a link to where that is done?

When I signed up for life a while back they did it as a new member and merged my epl into it after the fact. I would imagine this is what they will do with anyone who didn't give a member number. For endowment I did it online so can't give any feedback on that, it worked and I was charged immediately.

I signed up the day Cuomo signed the NY gun ban... Was that last Tuesday?? I forget.

Just looked online at my CC statement and see a pending charge dated yesterday from the NRA for the correct amount.
Merchant name is "NRA*MEMBERSHIP 703-267-3774 VA"

Checking online with NRA earlier today, my status is not yet changed.

I'm thinking they have a lot of backlog... I'm not worried.

I signed up on the 15th, and I wasn't actually charged until today. I had contacted an account representative on Monday asking about this, and she told me they were weeks behind in processing and nearly a month out on mailings due to the recent surge of membership.

I will have to agree they must be backlogged. I called and submitted my information on January 15th. The cc charge did not appear until the 22nd and the NRA web site does not show any status change, yet. I will guess they will be caught up in short time.

I called the main member number today, and the guy there tried to sell me the 600 one first. I was adamant about the $300 one, he transferred me to another department, and the guy there was like 'Yea, no problem, lets do it!'

So, I'm in ;)

Have not received a new membership card yet but I did get my first magazine that said "LIFE" on it. Felt good.

Richard_B wrote:"Oh, that's expired," was the answer I got just now when I called and was quoted $600. I guess they didn't want too many people to find out about it.

I guess I will ask a friend to sponsor me if that hasn't expired too.
I just entered my information and got the $300 offer, so it has not ended.

Update: Still showing "Annual Life", but the expire date is now 1/31/2033.
Progress. Still not worried.

It takes a while... took two weeks for my membership to show as Endowment - Life and I haven't got anything in the mail yet (I assume they'll send a new card).

I don't mind... I know they're busy!

I signed up the day that I posted this thread. Hadn't checked previously, but I'm now listed as a life member. If your status hasn't updated, don't worry; the NRA is just swamped with new and upgraded memberships and your status will be updated soon. Also want to thank 77346 again for offering to sponsor me. It was only when I called with his member number in hand that I was told the offer was open to everyone.

Question for those life members... Is the complementary ArmsCare coverage $2,500 or does it increase when converting the membership to life?

I finally got around to upgrading yesterday. I've always maintained an annual membership so that I could "vote with my wallet" if the NRA ever took a stance that I couldn't support... but with today's political climate, I figured that the money would be well spent.

Entered my info - again! - and it's still $600.

They ARE making different offers to different people! :???:
Original CHL: 2000: 56 day turnaround
1st renewal, 2004: 34 days
2nd renewal, 2008: 81 days

I got $600 on the website as well.

I called them, the first guy said $600. I told him I saw, and wanted, the $300 special I saw online.
He transferred me, I sat on hold, and got the $300.

You gotta call em and keep asking for it. Don't accept anything else.
