Bass Pro in Grapevine
Bass Pro in Grapevine has banned the use of silouette targets from its range. The store associate running the range counter told me it was due to a customer complaint that people were practising to shoot humans. I had gone there the night before my class to familiarize myself with their setup and procedures so I'd feel more in the know when I arrived to qualify.
This threw my CHL instructor for a loop as he was using Bass Pro's range to qualify us. He had to scramble to find another location on the day of my class.
I'm constantly amazed at how much power one complaint can have and how little power a thousand counter-complaints have in reversing the knee-jerk reaction from the first complaint!

Or...
We could tell them they are shaved Sasquatch targets, same profile. But that might generate complaints from the local cryptozoologists!

When Bass Pro first opened (Grapevine) I went to the range just to try it out and they told me right then that I could not use silhouette targets. So I'm surprised that they've let anyone use them. One reason (plus having to have all my guns locked and tell them how many rounds and mags I had). I'm a member of a range anyway but thought once in awhile if I was in the area I'd stop by to shoot. Didn't turn out to be my cup of tea.

Must've waffled at least once
Evidently they allowed them for some period of time, at least for CHL instructors to come in and qualify their students. My instructor had been using them for some time. Or maybe they just looked the other way and didn't enforce their rule for awhile until someone complained. All I know so far is what my instructor and the employee at the counter told me.

Please refrain from shooting people with guns, that is bad, and should never be done by anyone. Ever, for any reason.
If PETA complains, does that mean no more animal targets too?
Ya know, those bullseye targets have feelings too.
Try that stunt over in Switzerland, they would laugh you out the country....

Policy Change
Good for them! We should all write them and tell them we applaud their decision!
