:tiphat:

Anybody know of a half-way decent, or better, pistol range anywhere near Rusk or Jacksonville in Cherokee County, TX?

I guess there's still no pistol :fire range in Cherokee County. :headscratch

You reckon the police and sherriff's folk aren't "qualified"?? :leaving You reckon the County Judge knows that local law enforcement may not be "qualified"? :banghead:

Oh well :txflag:

It's been about 10 months since this question was first raised. I reckon there is still no known Shooting/Pistol Range in Cherokee County? :banghead: What a Bummer!

OG when I first took a CHL course back about ten years ago, I took the course in Rusk. We took the shooting part at the instructor's range out in the boonies. I think the guy's name was Tom Ball, also had a Real Estate Agency. You might contact him to see if there is a public range around. Like I said it was a while back, he might not be around anymore. If you can't find one, sounds like there might be a business opportunity for someone :headscratch

Thanks.

Tom Ball is a friend and was our instructor also. He has now built a nice house near where you (and us) qualified. He has said we can go shoot there when we want. I feel kinda' weird shooting in a guys front yard - between his horses and cows.

You're right there should be a range somewhere but, to my knowledge, there isn't. I don't know how the local PD and county sheriff maintain their qualifications - if they do.

have you checked with any of the ranges listed on the dps website? i imagine most are for personal and chl use only but it might be worth a few phone calls to see for sure.

Thanks Mac,

I recognize a couple of the names and have printed out the list. Phone calls are in order.

Thanks again
