Shooting/Pistol Range - Cherokee County
Anybody know of a half-way decent, or better, pistol range anywhere near Rusk or Jacksonville in Cherokee County, TX?

Oh well, there appears to be a range in the next county south that I intend to fully check out come October.
Thanks Longtooth.

I guess there's still no pistol range in Cherokee County.
You reckon the police and sherriff's folk aren't "qualified"?? You reckon the County Judge knows that local law enforcement may not be "qualified"?
Oh well

It's been about 10 months since this question was first raised. I reckon there is still no known Shooting/Pistol Range in Cherokee County? What a Bummer!

OG when I first took a CHL course back about ten years ago, I took the course in Rusk. We took the shooting part at the instructor's range out in the boonies. I think the guy's name was Tom Ball, also had a Real Estate Agency. You might contact him to see if there is a public range around. Like I said it was a while back, he might not be around anymore. If you can't find one, sounds like there might be a business opportunity for someone

Tom Ball is a friend and was our instructor also. He has now built a nice house near where you (and us) qualified. He has said we can go shoot there when we want. I feel kinda' weird shooting in a guys front yard - between his horses and cows.
You're right there should be a range somewhere but, to my knowledge, there isn't. I don't know how the local PD and county sheriff maintain their qualifications - if they do.

Ithought that was what everybody does in East Texas Next time I go to the homeplace I'll give you a call and let you shoot all you want.

Much Obliged. We clean up after ourselves and leave the gates as we find them unless instructed otherwise.

have you checked with any of the ranges listed on the dps website? i imagine most are for personal and chl use only but it might be worth a few phone calls to see for sure.

Thanks Mac,
I recognize a couple of the names and have printed out the list. Phone calls are in order.
Thanks again
