Yep.. I was there three lanes over. I was about to chamber my first round when it happened.

Father and son where shooting a 22. Son got hit in the head. In and out. Not sure if it was a ricochet or straight shot. Don't know much more than that.

Freaked me out a bit. Went to another range today to get past this.

Hopefully the boy is ok. Prayed lots.

Where is the story to this? I was not able to find it. Very tragic but am curious as to what happened and HOW it happened. Helps reaffirm SAFE handling at all times for sure.

There is little to no information in that story, and nothing that would indicate anyone died. I would imagine it would be much bigger news than this one story if that were the case.

I can share a small bit of info on this. It appears to have been self inflicted, with a rental .22lr pistol. From what I understand the 17 YO was there shooting with his father.

I've spoken to someome who works there and was present when it occurred. Really a shame and a tragedy. I've never understood why someone would take their life in front of other people like that.

Are ya'll talking about two different incidents? One says a man shot himself and another says a boy was shot that ultimately died.

Yeah, it's the same incident. The last shooting incident to occur at Red's North was about a year ago.

Prior to this most recent one, of course. I just chalked it up to bad reporting on the part of the media outlets that did report it. I guess I could expound on what I was told a bit more. The guy put the barrel of the gun to his forehead and pulled the trigger, with his father standing right there. FWIW, thats what I was told... always the possibility it could be inaccurate, but the gent who relayed it to me was one of the first out onto the range to help when it happened.
