Best Shot Rifle Range

#1

Post by Matt Fleming »

Best Shot Range now has a 25 yard Rifle Range with 4 shooting lanes. Unlike many indoor ranges that allow limited rifle shooting, the Best Shot Rifle Range allows for any civilian rifle cartridge - .300 Win Mag, .338 Lapua, .460 Weatherby Magnum - essentially any hunting cartridge. The environmentally friendly "green" Bullet Traps are filled with ballistic rubber and rated for .50 BMG altho that cartridge is not permitted. There is no bullet splatter and no excessive lead dust. Another feature not found on many indoor ranges is each shooting lane is outfitted with a benchrest. This allows for shooting from a sitting position. Various rifle rests, sand bags and a lead sled are available. For the experienced rifleman, a Chronograph is setup on one lane to allow shooters to measure their bullet velocities. Cameras are aimed at each target to allow a closeup view that gives the shooter immediate feedback as to shot placement. For handloaders, the range is setup to be reloader friendly.

How effective is a 25 yard benchrest range? It allows for shooters to get "on paper" with a newly mounted scope or new ammunition. An AR-15 zeroed at 100 yards was fired on the range and it printed 2 inches low at 25 yards. For someone learning basic rifle skills they can get accumstomed to the recoil and the report. It doesn't matter whether it's nightime, raining, or blistering hot, shooting a high-power rifle indoors in a comfortable climate is available at Best Shot.

good deal...I had heard you guy's where putting in a rifle range.

question...will you be offering some carbine training on the 4 lanes?
It'll be a tight fit but it can be managed and would be a nice addition to the Sunday pistol training...
some are starving for local training of this sort...a 22lr AR or conversion would work nicely on the range.

The removable barriers between the shooting lanes will allow for some specialized training, including 4 position shooting. Of course, the benchrest allows for getting zeros with iron or optic sights. For those interested in carbine training, ping the Range and we'll schedule some courses accordingly.

That's good to hear you're willing to try and organize some carbine training...
It seems other ranges in the area don't realize the benefit to their customer base
and the range through bodies which translate to income from such training...
Most focus on handgun only which is still a benefit.

OK Houston metro shooters I see this thread has had many views so I hope that translates into "pings" at Best Shot Range to let the staff and managers know carbine training is wanted and needed...fm2 has handgun on Sunday's so i'm sure something can/will (hopefully) develope for carbine also on either weekend day.

A beginner's/fundamentals weekly class for AR/AK carbine shooter's would go far as to having a skilled and fundamentally sound firearms community in our area...should also help those that compete or who would like to.

I would be interested in some carbine training, I plan on taking a csat course but would like to get some early fundamental training done first, plus I live about 4 blocks from the range.

Sxd45 a csat course would be awesome to attend.
you will definitely get some great Instruction there.

I know HCC's police academy range has hosted magpul on its range before but its a 50ydr iirc.
I think 25yds at BSR can be managed.
I plan on taking a 2 day carbine class soon also.

Good luck.

I would love to take a magpul class but they are pricey and the round count is high. I planned on taking a two day pistol class from Preston tactical. Maybe a road trip is in order for some of us on here wishing to attend a class.
