Nearly Choked to death

#1

Post by mrfunnyman »

Went to Bass Pro Grapevine yesterday to get some practice in. About half way through the session I noticed it was foggy down range. I just thought they were having some difficulty with the ventilation system. As we were leaving I asked the guy behind the counter if they were having issues with the ventilation system and says "Hold On and lemme' check, oh seems the guys opening forgot to turn it on" He then reached down with his foot and stepped on the switch and turned it on. Sure hope I don't get a case of the black lung because of someones forgetfulness.
BTW - All 7 lanes were occupied so there was a lot of shootin goin on. I'll continue to use Bass Pro but I'll certainly do an air check the second I go in from now on.

I was shooting Taurus 709 9mm and a Glock 27.
It was a nice day yesterday so the temp was about 50 outside and 72ish inside

That does not necessarily surprise me. Our members are instucted how to turn the ventilation system on and off as they come and go independently. A couple of years ago, I was taking a new couple back to the range to show them around as a new 20-something year-old member was finishing up and packing up. It was so smokey in the firing room that the bullet trap was not even visible 20 yards away. It seems the kid (planning to try out for U.S. Air Force pistol team) was so enthralled with shooting his new Beretta Neos, he had shot up an entire brick of .22 ammo without remembering to flip a switch.
