Houston shotgun range

#1

Post by roncarron@msn.com »

I am new to the board and would greatly appreciate your help in locating a Houston area range that allows patterning of the shotgun at varying distances. Everything I have found is either no shotgun or a pre-determined distance.

Thanks for the help! Ron

are you looking to sight in a shotgun for hunting season, or a range to shoot home defense shotgun or?
If home defense, PSC has a range specially set up for home defense shotgun.

There was a pattern board at American Shooting Center a few years ago.

PSC has two Pattern Boards at the regular shotgun range and there is a separate Home Defense shotgun range.
See you at the range

I just got back from shooting at Thunder Gun Range a few hours ago. It's an outdoor facility in Conroe that allows shotguns. When I told them I didn't want to shoot clays but was just interested in shooting buck and birdshot out of an 18" barrel with an open choke, they set me up with my own firing lane that was separated from everyone else by 8' rock walls down the sides. Since it was a private lane, I was able to move anywhere from point blank out to 30 yards when addressing the target.

It should be exactly what you're looking for as long as you're not looking for 100+ yard distances or anything.

That is exactly what I am looking for. I really want to determine how the shotgun performs with various chokes in the 20-30 yard range. Thanks for the help! I will be visiting them very soon.

Marksman Indoor Range in South Houston allows shotguns as long as you dont shoot slugs or any steel shot. Distance isn't very far, and if you go I recommend not shootingtoo quickly as you will fill the place with smoke. I have left there twice with a nasty sulfur taste in my lungs.
