PSC in Friendswood.

It's hard to beat.

I live much closer to "Clear Creek Gun Range" but will not go there again, since I have experienced the same conditions(attitudes/unsafe shooters, etc) that others on this forum have also experienced and made mention of elsewhere on this board.

When the wife and I were down here from NJ in April to find a house and jobs we stopped by The Bullet Hole.

As it was her first time shooting we rented a .22 Walther and bought 1 box of ammo. The staff were knowledgable and courteous. The range officers were great. My wife had a fun time and would go again.

Now that we've relocated here I'm closer to Bracken Range on the North Side and plan to check out that one soon.

Used to go shooting at Alpine exclusively, now I've been shooting a couple times at the Garland Public range - only 15 minutes from my house. Nice small range, allows lots of trigger time while still accomodating everyone.

New Outdoor Gun Range??

#51

Post by jbenat »

We were driving to Sulphur Springs from Frisco earlier today and just to the east of McKinney, on HWY 380, there was a wooden sign saying something about 3 outdoor gun ranges open to the public, with a arrow pointing to the South (I think). The sign looked fairly new. Does anyone know about a new Gun Range just off HWY 380 East of McKinney? I'm not confused with Collin Co. Gun Range, we shoot there often. Could it be that someone is brave enough to open a new gun range in spite of all the gun gragging sheeple?

Gun Range on Hwy 380

#53

Post by Commander »

There is a new gun range on Hwy 380 just west of Greenville. This is probably the one you saw. However, I don't recall the name of the range.

Bayou Rifles. Most evenings we have the place to ourselves. Saturdays we see a number of men with their sons and daughters.

PWK,

Bayou Rifles Juliff range, on CR 57? Weekdays I'm usually there from 5 PM until about 6-6:30, at the 15 yard line. If you see a blue Dodge pickup, stop and say "Hi" if you want.

Got the wife and 3 kids over to Bracken Range NW of San Antonio today. It's $3.50 per target board with 4 bullseyes on it. And $3.50 per gun. Extra shooters aren't charged. 50- and 100-yard covered rifle range. Also a covered pistol (we ran out of time for that) range and skeet setup.

We only used the rifle range today. Sharing a target board with 2 rifles it was $10.50 for a couple hours' fun. The fees include the loan of eye and ear protection as needed and a spotter scope at the bench. The back wall and corrugated steel ceiling amplify muzzle reports quite a bit.
