Range near Lake Jackson, S.Houston/Brazoria/Galveston County

#1

Post by jrmy_1 »

Hey, I'm new to Lake Jackson (as well as this forum) and looking for a public range not to far away. I guess I may have to drive some distance but would like to stay within the S. Houston, Brazoria/Galveston County area. I'm looking for a range that may also offer CHL training as well as some advanced training w/ solid instructors. I'd also be interested in a private club if not too expensive. Thanks for the help and the forum!

Check out PSC at http://www.psc-range.com

It's between Friendswood and Alvin along FM528.

Not real close to Lake Jackson, but worth a look.

Welcome!

Greenwood, near Lake Jackson, and Bayou Rifles (a few miles up 521) are membership clubs in the area you are talking about. Both hold NRA Highpower Rifle matches but both have pistol ranges, and Bayou has CHL classes. Not sure about Greenwood, but the club has a great reputation.

PSC may be best for you if you are into action pistol (e.g. IDPA) matches.

I teach NRA Personal Protection Inside the Home and NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home at the PSC Range in Friendswood. I also give seminars on Texas law on self-defense and I incorporate that material in the NRA courses.

I am membership director of PSC but I am a member of Greenwood. (I shoot matches there 8 to 10 times a year and thought I would put money where my match was.)

Greenwood is a good club.
and
it might be closer to you.

Thanks for the help.

This may be off topic, but I was wondering if anybody offers bowling pin shoots in the area? Thanks.

PSC has a bowling Pin Match

go to
http://www.psc-range.com
and check the calendar on the upper left hand corner.

There are two matches with the same format. One is bowling Pins and the other is plates. Same folks shoot each match.
Norm Lee and his bride Dawn run one and Tom Eudy runs the other.

One warning.
They are starting to recycle bowling pins. The plastic has some value. That means the bowling pin matches are on becoming extinct , just because they are running out of pins.
