You could go back over to Academy with your receipt (if it's not too far) and try and get the price on the signs.
(I think there's a legal issue there somewhere)
I've had that happen at stores where they have a sale and the register scanner shows the higher price.
Something to watch out for.

That's true.
I find that between Academy and Wally World I can find most of what I need at a decent price.
