The headline was clearly meant to provoke rather than report, that is plain to see. The story itself is something for us to reflect on, not to celebrate.
Carrying a concealed handgun is an awesome responsibilty. Mind that.
If you got a CHL to put you one step closer to an encounter where you might get to shoot someone, you got a CHL for the wrong reason. This is a public forum. Our attitudes and moral compasses are here for the world to judge. Mind that.
I will joke and josh around about holsters, calibers, concealment methods, my gun is better than yours (and it is) all day long. But, I hold those of us that hold a CHL to a higher standard when it comes to learning about an incident like this.
Let us not pump our collective fists in the air when someone has to do the unthinkable. Otherwise we end up looking like those dancing in the streets overseas when a roadside bomb goes off.

This is a tragedy for all involved. For the teenager, for his mother and for the homeowner. The homeowner broke no law, but there is no justice in the death of a child. Now the homeowner must live with that.
