AR-190-11 directs post commanders to establish the program for safe and secure storage of all weapons possessed by anyone on post to include military housing as well as all military pesonnel in the civilian sector.
so therefore JAG cannot circumvent this regulation as it also provides for punitive action for refusal or circumvetion of this regulation. all military installations have a weapons possession policy that is currently in effect. this regulation is mirrored by all branches secondary to a DOD requirement.

actually no it is 18 years of age, not 17
if it was a military individual in military housing they are gonna pay the price, DOD restricts firearms as being a harzard and should be maintained by either a rod and gun club or within the armory, they can enforce this in any manner they choose, they can go thru the federal law system or under UCMJ and make it stick.
