No advocation for carrying an unreliable weapon, that took it out of context. He was saying that a Glock, while ugly to some, more than makes up for it in reliability. I used to be somewhat anti-glock. My XDm's were the end-all for me. I also let a Kahr PM9 in the club. I was in the Glock-Knocker club. Then I made the mistake of buying a Glock 30 a few months ago. The XDm's now stay in the safe and the 30 is my EDC.Pawpaw wrote:Where did you see someone advocate carrying an unreliable gun?apostate wrote:Life can get very short for those who carry an unreliable gun.Pawpaw wrote:Life is too short to carry an ugly gun.
I agree reliability is more important than looks, but it is trivially easy to have both.
There is no gun that accurately delivers the goods, in a deadly fashion, with almost no fear of failure, that can be called ugly. My XDm's have never had a FTE, FTF, or other malfunction using any ammo fed to it. It really is a sweet looking weapon. My Glock has never had a FTE or FTF using any sort of ammo. My XDm carry is a 3.8" 9mm and the Glock is a .45. They are virtually identical in size. The XDm holds 13 in a standard mag while the 30 holds 10. I would rather carry the three less rounds in a far more lethal load...ymmv. I could easily get the smaller 45 in the XDm family and then carry that as my EDC. I really would like to check out their new XDs single stack 45. Would make a wonderful BUG.
