Tried out my Mosin Nagant last Saturday. I have to say, for a rifle made in 1936, this thing was dang accurate at 100 yards. The elevation is right on, but the windage is a bit off to the right. I am going to shoot it some more before I monkey around with that front sight. It also has the most satisfying "BOOOOOM!"! For a rifle that cost 109 bucks, plus a 25 dollar FFL fee, this is a heck of a bargain. Add in a couple of spam cans of 7.62x54R (880 rds) for about 160 bucks...and you have a lot of fun on your hands! The recoil is not all that much; it was less than that of my BIL's 12 gauge.

Re: What did Santa bring
Hmmm, a Comp-Tac Minotaur for my glock 30, a CRKT M21-14SF, a Cold Steel Recon I, a knife display case, 3 cans of Ballistol, a Mosin Nagant, 880 rounds of 7.62x54r surplus ammo, some steel shooting targets, two sturdy, Browning belts, a Klarus XT-10 490 lumen flashlight, A Lyman's reloading manual, and some other junk...lol.
As you might be able to tell, I orchestrated many of my gifts this year. I either ordered it myself, or I was very specific. I have to tell you what...I got that Mosin in 3 weeks ago and have cleaned it as well as I can twice before today. I took the Ballistol to it tonight (first time using it), and got a lot more crud out of it. I finally feel like it is in condition to shoot, and it looks nice because of the wood getting a good oiling. It is a very easy gun to take down, but very hard to get all of that cosmoline off of.

...and a partridge in a pear tree.
ps: I think it was TAM that turned me onto the CRKT M21-14SF...dang! Reversed the clip on it and it opens on its own when pulled properly from the pocket. Really, really nice knife. I have collected 16 knives this year, and it ranks in the top three.
