Re: Open Carry, and Political Correctness

"...I understand that you see it that way, but that does not make me incorrect. Historically, governments of all types and locales have *not* granted these rights to their citizens. In fact, the previous government denied many of these rights to its citizens. Regardless of why the rights are b...

Re: Open Carry, and Political Correctness

I have to dispute the following assertions: "It's about rights granted by the government to its citizens". That is absolutely incorrect. The Bill of Rights are about "inalienable" rights that the government cannot rescind, and by no means are "granted" by the governmen...

Re: Open Carry, and Political Correctness

first, thanks everyone for remaining civil. It makes discussion of an obviously hot topic much easier and ensures that opinions on the issue are heard, not just blasting a one another unnecessarily. Kudos for that accomplishment, it's not always an easy thing to do :) To the subject of enumerating n...

Re: Open Carry, and Political Correctness

Can someone PLEASE find me the part of the Texas penal code that specifically states the word "printing"...I just don't remember reading it. BUT, since I'm not quite as young a fella as I used to be, maybe I missed it. This is the other one that irritates me like the word "brandishin...

Re: Open Carry, and Political Correctness

dead horses notwithstanding,<SNIP> :txflag: No flames here but I'll play. The main principle of the constitution is the enumeration of God given rights, not the granting of them. We are blessed to have been founded on the recognition of God given rights, not the oppression of them. States' rights a...

Re: Crimson Trace Lasergrips Adive

My Pro Crimson Carry II came with the rosewood grips. I love it, that tri-color look is a big reason why I wanted the version I got :)

Re: Carry at work without CHL?

I am not a lawyer, that is just my interpretation of the law. I fully agree that anyone with a need for legal advice should seek that advice from an attorney. I was just giving my opinion, as others have done in this very thread...

Re: Carry at work without CHL?

It's my understanding that one does not need to have any specific title to "control" the property. At my gun range, *all* employees openly carry. There is nothing in the law (that I can find) that makes any distinction for gun range or gun store employees. The way I interpret the law is th...

Re: Open Carry, and Political Correctness

dead horses notwithstanding, I do have opinions on this and wasn't around to contribute to the 20 other previous threads... so I'm saying my piece here. It's just my personal opnion and not one that I really want to argue about for pages and pages. I'm sure I'll get flamed and I'm sure that several ...

Re: Proper CH *size*

I think this has gotten out of control... my point was not that a frangible round is better than a JHP. So, I'm not going to rebut that argument. I was also not saying that it was perfect in every scenario, so I'm not arguing that either. The ammo I'm talking about has a frangible CORE, not a fully ...

Re: Proper CH *size*

maybe this will help... imagine a BB fired from a classic Red Ryder BB gun, which moves at 280 ft/sec (that's just over 190 mph). Imagine that thing hitting you and how it will feel... I think most of us have been shot by a BB gun before :). Then imagine a locomotive moving at 19 mph (10% of the spe...

Re: Recent Changes in CHL / Deferred Adjudication

Not trying to stir the pot, but I have an honest question. My question is not about right or wrong, it's about the letter of the law. I was under the impression that any and all felonies precluded one from owning a firearm legally, including carrying one in public. Is that not the case? If it is, th...

...never took physics, but I don't believe that a bullet weighing 20% of a larger bullet even moving over twice as fast, can generate as much stopping power...and your figures back it up...the .380 yields 337 and the .45 yields 350...given the speed, the .380's likely to pass through the body unles...

Re: Proper CH *size*

as a point of fact (if anyone still cares, lol), the WWB JHP 230gr .45 ammo, according to winchester.com, moves 838 ft/s and applies 350 lb/ft at 10 yds. The RBCD TFSP 45gr .380 ammo moves 1835 ft/s and applies 337 lb/ft at 10 yds. Ballistically speaking, they should impact the target with the same ...
