If your original posts were "rash," you're doing well, IMO. I didn't see anything disrespectful about coming here, venting a bit and designing strategies to move forward. The fact that he is doing so well and causing you to second guess your first reaction is a blessing. Not that you are second guessing yourself but that he is doing well enough to even warrant a second guessing.
