Here is the next upgrade you need. Love that Russian red and shellac combination.

Does the Starbucks CEO Open Letter (in TX) Prohibit Carry?

The CEO of Starbucks has issued an open letter asking (open carry) firearms carriers to not carry in Starbucks, but not exactly prohibiting it. This seems like a legal grey area has been generated since his letter essentially contradicts itself. Read here: http://www.starbucks.com/blog/an-open-lette...

Re: Santa Monica College Shooting

Since little information seems to be available on the various news agencies, I took a bit of time to examine the photos of the weapons as displayed by the Santa Monica police to see what I could identify. The revolver appears to be: percussion cap black powder .44. I have one just like it I inherite...

Re: Where to buy .22 LR?

I cannot help find any, but I did contribute 3 bricks to my local 'mom and pop' gun store (who have handled many transfers for me) with the suggestion that they meter it out to their steady customers or to folks desperate to go out and plink a bit. I also gave a couple of bricks to my buddy's neighb...

Re: We need your Testimony to Support HB 750 for Campus Carr

With SXSW in Austin until the following weekend (20th of March), in-city motel rooms are very difficult to come by. Best bet would be to stay outside of Austin (Bastrop, Georgetown, San Marcos, Fredricksburg, etc. depending on your starting point) and drive in for the day. It's been over 50 years si...

Re: Never going to Cabelas in Fort Worth again

I visited Cabelas in Buda this (Sunday) morning to pick up some reloading powder (Hazmat shipping is a killer!) and took the time to examine the signage on the front doors. Only business hours are posted. There were two gentlemen at a table in orange vests past the second set of doors to handle any ...

Re: Required Presentation of CHL when NOT Carrying?

As this was explained in my January CHL class, the penalty was dropped since "carry in vehicle" no longer required "traveling" [however that was (ill) defined] and as non-CHL holders were not required to present their non-existent licenses when possessing a concealed weapon while...

Re: January 2011 Applications

Congratulations! :cheers2: And double so for the broad spectrum of places where you have carried. I mostly carry to/from work and now don't worry too much about being a stand-out while carrying. I do remind myself every morning that dedicated responsibility is needed while carrying. Keep up the good...

Re: DPS Processing Times

Almost the same here. Total time from class to license in hand was 25 days. The course was in Austin on a Saturday and the instructor took all our paperwork to DPS the next Monday. Now to keep reminding myself as the instructor put it about concealed carry: "It is an awesome responsibility"...

Re: January 2011 Applications

License in mailbox today (Feb. 16) :anamatedbanana . Postmark is Feb. 15, but states pre-sorted first class. I suspect that is the reason for delay between status showing mailed and actual mailing. Perhaps the mailroom has to wait for enough outgoing mail to pre-bundle for the lower rates (35.7 cent...

Re: January 2011 Applications

I am now (Feb. 12, 2011) up to status: Mailed. I know that probably means: (speculation) in the mail room to be inserted into envelope then mailed in next batch of pre-sorted envelopes when enough to a common postal zone have been generated so as to get a discounted postage rate (/speculation), but ...

Re: January 2011 Applications

Hang in there! I am sure it is just a combination of slow to mail and mail moving a bit slow due to the bad weather. :txflag: GAM Im begining to think "mailed" means nothing at all, just something to fill in the blank. There is no way it takes 8 to 10+ days for the "mailed" mail ...

Re: January 2011 Applications

And if you think that was quick, status is now moved to: Manufacturing (Feb. 10, 2011). Maybe our fearless forum leader will want to add a new CHL arrival time of 0-30 days to his processing time survey. I guess it is well past time to get that new holster broken in! Cheers, GAM holy crap that is fa...

Re: January 2011 Applications
