Well, lets start with the basics: Do you have a caliber preference?ZeeMan wrote:ZeeMan wrote:Hello, new around here, not new to guns, but new to chl. great forum and great discussion, looking forward to much more
well, plans on the 3.8 fell through and I am now back in the shopping process.....only 3 places to buy handguns here in town, one being Academy*gasp* had some medical issues come up and have to drop my handgun budget a bit.........any suggestions on a semi-auto in the 300-400 dollar range that I could trust the lives of my family on?
Not sure what your opinion of Taurus is, but I have heard a lot of great things about the PT-709 slim. Easily concealable, 9mm ammo is cheap at the range and can get the job done... If you're looking for something like a .45, and don't mind Taurus, the PT-145 does that. Having shot one (1 magazine at the range-- I asked the guy next to me if I could shoot it), it tries to jump out of your hand, but I'm sure with practice it isn't bad...
Other than that, there's always the Bersa .380...
Sometimes the SigPro 2022 can be found for $399 or so... might be worth a look...
And that said, I'm out of ideas without looking at a gun store's shelf...
