Glad the situation worked out for you. Many of the people who live in Santa Monica are about the most left-wing idiot nutjobs you could ever imagine meeting, and their elected officials follow suit. Most cops can't afford to live in SM and thus have a much better handle on their sanity. I stopped going to SM years ago when they outlawed smoking in just about all public areas, but the bums could still sleep, pee and crap all over the beach and public parks with impunity. I'm sure the cops there don't like the situation any more than you or I. I interviewed for a job in SM last year, and in retrospect, thank God I didn't get it. :)
He posted earlier that he presented both DL & CHL under the mistaken impression that they would be notified that he had a CHL. He was attempting to prevent any kind of unpleasant "surprise" situation. Like most people from out of state, he wasn't familiar with the degree of panic mode that the authorities in Kalifornia go into over anything having to do with handguns. I'm NOT referring to the average police officer, but the higher ups......It's just one of a number of reasons I don't regret moving back to Texas
