hey congrats, it's about time right? now for the most brutal part of the waiting period....Rebel wrote:I swore I wouldn't check it today, because I was tired of the disappointment, but of course couldn't help it.
WOOOHOOOO!!!!!!
All complete(44 days), just pending manufacture, based on what others have posted, I expect to to have the actual card in the next 10-15 days. Just a few weeks before my Birthday, I shall celebrate by getting my Volkmann out of lay away, and not having to wait for the NICS check!!!!

Re: December 2010 Applications
yeah i don't think it would have been a good idea to leave those arrests off the application, even if they were class C misdemeanors. there don't appear to be any exclusions to the rule of having to list ALL arrests, and if you were to leave them off and DPS were to find out about them they could deny your application on the basis that you failed to disclose a material fact.
i know how hard it is to be patient, especially when everyone around you is getting theirs so quickly, but you've only got another couple weeks until the 60 day mark. if you don't have anything within 60 days then you need to start calling and asking what the holdup is.
i haven't found it in writing anywhere, but several people have told me that after 60 days they either have to issue your CHL or deny it on the grounds that you failed to meet one or more of the criteria outlined in the CHL laws.

Re: December 2010 Applications
i know i've probably read it before but did you have prior arrests or anything in your background check that would delay things so long? i expected mine to take about 2 months because of a prior arrest, but you're right... some guys are getting their CHLs within 17 days now.Rebel wrote:Still waiting.
I called today to just "check in", and was told that 60 days is the norm, and that they received my paperwork on the 12/28, all this time I thought they had it since the 22nd.

Re: December 2010 Applications
you sent in your application around the middle of December, right? has the status on your background check changed at all, or is it still showing "under review"? my guess is that it won't be long now until you get your plastic, i read on another forum where a guy sent in his paperwork mid-December and got his plastic in the mail this past monday.Mr.ViperBoa wrote:My finger prints are complete now! All I am waiting on now is my background check. Hopefully it wont be much longer.

Re: December 2010 Applications
same here, i wonder how long the background check will take. how much different is this background check from the one they do when you purchase a firearm?mt_goodrich wrote:My status was updated from yesterday. My fingerprints are showing "green".
Only thing left pending is background.

Re: December 2010 Applications
haven't received anything in the mail yet from DPS, but i've emailed back and forth with someone at their office a few times and the latest response is that, in general, right now new applications are taking 60 days to process. perhaps it's a case of underpromise and overdeliver and we'll get em in 4-6 weeks. at least the anticipation isn't nearly as bad as it was the week that i sent my packet off. now, as they say, i've just gotta hurry up and wait.

Re: December 2010 Applications
given that you mailed everything in right around the holidays, i doubt any significant progress was made on your application until after the holidays, so you're probably in the same boat as those of us who sent ours in at the end of December or beginning of January. you can probably expect to see something early February maybe? most people i've talked to recently have gotten theirs right around the 60-day mark.Mr.ViperBoa wrote:Hello all. Did my class and mailed in my application on the 17th of Dec. Last week it updated to say that everything had been received and my finger prints and background were being reviewed. Here it is the 12th of Jan. and it still says the same thing. I figured it would take longer to get things done because of the holidays to get my plastic. Any thoughts?

Re: December 2010 Applications
Yesterday I decided to email the DPS CHL office just to confirm that they had received all my paperwork and to make sure they didn't need any more info, I received a response back within a couple hours and this morning the website was updated to show that they received everything and the background check and fingerprints are under review.

Re: December 2010 Applications
Took the course and completed the online application on December 31st, mailed all documents on January 3rd. DPS website still says they're waiting to receive my paperwork, I figured it would take a while before this changed because of the problems I've heard about with their website. I did try to call the phone number listed just to confirm that all required paperwork had been received and that I wasn't missing anything, and I get a busy signal after the 1st ring every time I call (tried about 4 times over the past few hours).
My instructor told our class that the processing time takes anywhere from 2 to 8 weeks, I'm hoping it doesn't take any longer than 2 months.
