A misfired email from an Internal Revenue Service employee in Ohio alerted officials in Washington that conservative groups were being targeted a full year earlier than previously acknowledged, Fox News confirms.
Transcripts from interviews held with IRS employees in Cincinnati show that managers in Washington knew about the heightened scrutiny put on Tea Party groups applying for tax-exempt status in July 2010.
...................
According to the report, Hofacre was asked to summarize her initial findings and send it via email to a small group of IRS workers, including a few in the D.C. tax-exempt unit. Mistakenly, she sent the email to everybody in the Washington IRS Exempt Organizations Rulings and Agreements unit.

This was my favorite exchange from the hearings yesterday.
Mr (I use the term loosely) McDermott basically "blames the victim", then Mr. Ryan sets him straight.
These Progressives make me sick.

To your point, and something I didn't mention previously because I still hope it's irrelevant and worthy only of a tinfoil hat...
Obama lived in Indonesia from the time he was about 6, until he returned to Hawaii at age 10. During that time he was living indigenously. He was not the child of an American businessperson, diplomat or military member who all would have maintained an exposure to American ideals. No, Obama was the step-child of an Indonesian revolutionary family (not a bad thing, since it resulted in Indonesia's independence from the Dutch) who spent his formative years immersed in Indonesian language, culture and religion. No, I do not think he is secretly a Muslim, but i do believe his fundamental outlook is far from "American".
It had taken me less than six months to learn Indonesia's language, its customs, and its legends. I had survived chicken pox, measles, and the sting of my teachers' bamboo switches.
............
The world was violent, I was learning, unpredictable and often cruel. My grandparents knew nothing of such a world, I decided; there was no point in disturbing them with questions they couldn't answer.

Here's the thing....VMI77 wrote:I don't know, the examples you give for incompetence could be interpreted as indifference. Nothing that has happened since he miraculously jumped into the world-stage has changed my assumption that he is indeed some incarnation of the Manchurian Candidate.
From hardly ever attending his PDB in person, to starting his day at 10:45 AM, to sleeping through Benghazi to never (hardly) meeting with his cabinet or Congress. These are all very clear (to me) signs of an administrator that is in over his head... they speak directly to incompetence.
How do you vote for a man for POTUS that has never managed anything more complicated than a community of poor folks (as a volunteer?) and hides his academic and legal records from public view.?
Just because he's had some success pushing his agenda does not indicate competence for the job of POTUS. Obama's incompetence is exceeded only by Americas stupidity for giving such a blatantly unqualified person the job.
It's just too easy to give credit to Obama for being "smart enough to accomplish his evil agenda".
Truth is... if he was so smart... he would be sure that all the basics of his position were covered, at least competently, so that he could competently respond to a completely foreseeable event such as Benghazi (well.. terrorist attack on US foreign assets in general.. we have a clear chain of command for stuff like that, no?... he was notified within minutes of the attack, no?... but he was unprepared to make any decision other than stand down... no?... You think stuff like that doesn't come up regularly in the PDB? It's easier to read the report... but what do you lose? ), or the IRS, or just about everything Eric Holder does, doesn't make him look like the north end of a southbound mule.
He's accomplished some of his evil agenda DESPITE being a morally corrupt human who is over-matched for his position. How? Because he has MANY accomplices. He's not so smart. He's a sociopath.

I watched this part closely.... Since I'm not informed on the legal aspects of 5A refusals, I found it very interesting.mamabearCali wrote:interesting.....they are saying that by making an opening statement that Lerner waived her fourth amendment rights.......

Gowdy was livid, apparently with cause, that she was permitted to leave after giving her "statement" under oath.
As I understand it, 5A allows you to refuse to answer questions on a one-by-one basis, so, other than making her sit there and get berated, I'm not sure what good dragging her back in will do other than generate some sideshow fireworks. Maybe my 5A understanding is incorrect.
She needs to be held to account, as does Sarah Hall Ingram.
Both should be in jail, for a term dependent on their cooperation in rolling up both underlings involved and superiors.

I didn't catch that.. but.. I'm doing spreadsheets while the hearings are playing on the other screen, so, I may have missed it..Dave2 wrote:I'm watching the IRS hearings, and Mr. George just said, in so many words, that the targeting isn't political because conservatives might be terrorists. Mr. George is, generally, one of the good guys in all this.. He seems to be competent, thorough and answering questions to the best of his ability or to the limits imposed upon him by current law. I wonder how he feels having to sit beside those other tyranny-enabling slimeballs.?

I am converted.Jaguar wrote:I also believe the IRS has become too powerful. It can ruin lives in many different ways. I believe it is no longer capable of being ran as independent from politics, and whoever is in charge gets to decide who lives and who gets hoisted on the pike of the agency. By who is in charge, I am not talking about the POTUS – I mean those who makes day to day decisions on behalf of the agency from simple field agent auditing their “customers”, to the division directors, to the director of the IRS, to the Secretary of the Treasurer. It only takes one of these people being corrupt to ruin someone’s life and as we have seen, when a person has to spend tens of thousands of dollars to defend their political donations from the IRS, the well dries up for the agency’s political opponents.

As my mother is fond of saying.... "From your mouth [keyboard] to God's ears"mojo84 wrote:I still think there is a strong possibility both parties will take this serious. Now whether or not the Administration or some of the thugs he appointed, that is a different story. I think the congress has to for a couple of reasons. If they don't, there constituents could fall under the same tyrannical oppression in the future and they don't want that. They also are seeing the presidents house of cards crumbling and I have a feeling they will feel the need to distance themselves from him and his band of thugs. Once all the details possible from the AP, Fox News, IRS and Benghazi scandals surface, Obama, Clinton and the rest of them will be so politically tainted no one will want to come to their defense.
Maybe I am just wishful thinking but I sure hope something good comes of all this.

All of these hearings are a sideshow...
If we had a real AG, he'd already be interviewing witnesses, starting from the alleged "original perpetrators" in Cincinnati and rolling his way up the food chain until somebody decided they would take the final fall for the administration.

I am newly converted... from Flat tax to fair tax...Jaguar wrote:T. Coleman Andrews was an IRS Commissioner for 3 years. He had the following things to say about income taxes after resigning.
End the IRS!!! - - - http://www.fairtax.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;"Congress went beyond merely enacting an income tax law and repealed Article IV of the Bill of Rights, by empowering the tax collector to do the very things from which that article says we were to be secure. It opened up our homes, our papers and our effects to the prying eyes of government agents and set the stage for searches of our books and vaults and for inquiries into our private affairs whenever the tax men might decide, even though there might not be any justification beyond mere cynical suspicion."
"The income tax is bad because it has robbed you and me of the guarantee of privacy and the respect for our property that were given to us in Article IV of the Bill of Rights. This invasion is absolute and complete as far as the amount of tax that can be assessed is concerned. Please remember that under the Sixteenth Amendment, Congress can take 100% of our income anytime it wants to. As a matter of fact, right now it is imposing a tax as high as 91%. This is downright confiscation and cannot be defended on any other grounds."
"The income tax is bad because it was conceived in class hatred, is an instrument of vengeance and plays right into the hands of the communists. It employs the vicious communist principle of taking from each according to his accumulation of the fruits of his labor and giving to others according to their needs, regardless of whether those needs are the result of indolence or lack of pride, self-respect, personal dignity or other attributes of men."
"The income tax is fulfilling the Marxist prophecy that the surest way to destroy a capitalist society is by steeply graduated taxes on income and heavy levies upon the estates of people when they die."
"As matters now stand, if our children make the most of their capabilities and training, they will have to give most of it to the tax collector and so become slaves of the government. People cannot pull themselves up by the bootstraps anymore because the tax collector gets the boots and the straps as well."
"The income tax is bad because it is oppressive to all and discriminates particularly against those people who prove themselves most adept at keeping the wheels of business turning and creating maximum employment and a high standard of living for their fellow men."
"I believe that a better way to raise revenue not only can be found but must be found because I am convinced that the present system is leading us right back to the very tyranny from which those, who established this land of freedom, risked their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor to forever free themselves..."
I'll be copying this and sharing it... Thanks.
