Re: Just picked up my first lever 30-30...

Thanks for all the advice. As far as ranges are concerned, I think the average would be 50-75 yards. My buddies property is pretty brushy and we've been able to get pretty close to the hogs. I'll check into those Redfield scopes ya'll mentioned as well. As far as saving my money (rather than spendin...

Just picked up my first lever 30-30...

I figured this would be the place to ask some questions about my new/old rifle. Well, I recently acquired a Marlin 336 (this one made in 1971). Being more of a fisherman than a hunter, my questions will probably sound a bit "newbie" to the hunters on the board. Anyways, I'm planning on put...

Re: December 2010 Applications

Been fighting the urge to check the website all week, and still no change. All GREEN except for background...yadda yadda yadda. I'm pretty sure the thing I self reported (which I'm starting to think I didn't even have to put down) :rules: is going to make my wait drag out even longer. Anyways....arg...

Re: December 2010 Applications

Well, I figured I'd add my name to the list of December applications. I mailed mine on 14 Dec, they recieved it on the 20th. Got my letter in the mail about a week later and logged in. Everything was in the green except the background check. I called a few days ago and the operator said "they&q...

Re: Question about "self reporting"...

No thanks is necessary (concerning my military service). :txflag: I emailed the DPS folks with my question, so hopefully I'll hear something back from them. I'm not too concerned about it, however, I just thought it could an issue. Thanks for the info friend.

Question about "self reporting"...

I had a question I'd like to ask and get ya'lls opinions on. Anyways, DPS received my packet on 16 December. I have since received my "pin" number and have been able to see what my status was (or supposedly is). Anyways, I called today and asked if there were any issues with my packet. The...

Re: Questions about Louisiana

(forgot the weight, but it was my personal best of all species to date, and the biggest red that day, though photo shows ice chest curvature making it look shorter) I may have to pay for a guide trip if I get time to get down there next Summer ... do you accept "plastic"? specifically Kel...

Re: Questions about Louisiana

just now noticed your avatar ... I'm in the "Plastic Navy" too ... Inks Lake and Lake Austin are being lowered 8-12 feet for the next 3 weeks, (starting today; takes 4 days to lower them) ... fish concentrations under the dams releasing water should start soon and on those lakes too. Curr...

Questions about Louisiana

I'm still waiting for my CHL, but I'm going to be traveling to New Orleans this week. Now, I'm familiar with the laws concerning travelers carrying handguns in their vehicles within Texas, but I'm not sure about Louisiana. I've been going through older posts on this site, but I can't find any discus...

Mailed mine off December 14th

Well, I got my packet in the mail on the 14th, and my checked cleared (my payment) 4 days later. I suppose it's time to join the "waiting weary". Anyways, I'm new to the forum and I've been reading through the posts on and off all week. Lot's of great info and commentary. Just wondering if...
