Yeah. I haven't been back since the last time they held mine either. I'm with others on here wondering how hard it would be for someone else to 'claim' my firearm. Especially when they get busy and there's a big crush of people at the counter and the phone is ringing. Just doesn't feel right to me.zero4o3 wrote:I went back to the arms room 10/1, have never had a problem in the past, but the younger girl working the front counter was not the friendliest person I have delt with, and it seems they have a new policy of holding all of your guns / bags behind the counter while you wait?

Re: The arms room
Now shotguns are prohibited. Seems like they tried limiting shotguns to slugs only, but the yahoos kept bringing in birdshot anyway. Pity. Was thinkng of looking for a slug gun.

Re: The arms room
Took my CHL class there with the MUCH better half. ONLY thing I didn't like about the place is that once done shooting, you have to take your guns and lock them in your car. NOT the best idea IMO. True they've had some yahoos take their guns out and 'fondle' them in the class. But with all the car break ins in that area, locking guns up in the car is NOT the best idea. It's a recipe for turning a 'bad guy' into an 'armed bad guy'. Won't take long before the hoods realize there are 'targets of opportunity' sitting out there.

Re: The arms room
Not to jack the thread, but the wife wanted a SIG P238. Ended up buying at a gun show for SIGNIFICANLTY less than what the Arms Room quoted us. I'd love to support local businesses, and understand they have certain things that you get for doing that (face to face business, advice, etc.) but the price difference was too much to ignore. I could have easily have added transfer fees and shipping and still been ahead by a fair amount. And I was going to the show anyway.Justin Franklin wrote:Support your local businesses! Most people who choose to buy a gun online wind up spending more when you figure in shipping, FFL fees, time spent looking and whatever else they do in their search to save a few bucks.
I have a friend who recently went to FIVE different gun stores and the local gun show comparing prices on the SAME gun. He says he eventually found it $30 cheaper than his closet store. So, he thinks he saved $30. I'm willing to bet he's wrong! When you figure in the time he spent looking, the gas and mileage to all those different places, gun show entrances fees, gun show parking fees and whatever else….I'm guessing he probably spent $30 to $50 more than he would have if he would have just bought it from his local shop.
That said, the Arms Room is first rate. They're a little pricey on ammo, VERY pricey on guns (at least in my ONE case, may not be so with all of them). But overall very good folks to deal with.

Re: The arms room
Their guns do seem a tad on the pricey side. But I guess that fancy new building doesn't pay for itself. Indoor range is nice too.
