Hopefully they'll fix these little glitches when it reaches the House.
After thinking about it, it would behoove these Senators politically neuter this bill.
Ironic thing is, a school shooting could happen again. And the cycle of "we have to do something" will start all over again.

No, most people that old have dropped out already.Ameer wrote:Maybe Lucio's district has a lot of high school students who are 21 or older, and he's worried they will be able to get a CHL and carry in high school without his amendment. That's the only thing that makes logical sense to me. Otherwise he's saying college professors shouldn't be able to carry if they have any high school students in their class, and that' makes no sense logically.srothstein wrote:But if the building has both high school and college students, it really does not change the fact that we are normally talking about the faculty being licensed, or the more mature adult who is returning to school after working for a living for a while. The average "immature" traditional student will graduate from any community college before hitting 21.
I with we could see the amendment. Maybe, just maybe, some provisions of it will be rescinded in the House.

Re: Lucio's amendment
I told the staffer that. He stiffly said, "Well, we didn't get their permission, so we're offering this amendment."RPB wrote:High school kids are ok at Harrold ISd where some adults with CHLs are armed, why make only those kids safer?
I'll do some digging and find out what HS this is associated with, and maybe shoot them a firm, yet polite and factual, email.

I probably can't call Sen. Lucio's office today to ask his staff more in depth questions, but if someone else wants to...Skaven wrote:There is one here in San Antonio. North East Lakeview college has integrated highschool students in the college, as well as a high school on the campus.

Dunno. We'll see Monday.Hoi Polloi wrote:Is he wanting to exempt the buildings the high school regularly uses or the entire college campus? In situations like that, the high school uses a few buildings exclusively and rarely ventures further.

Lucio's amendment
The is a HS connected with a commnity college in Kingsville. Coastal Bend College and I think King HS. All Lucio wants is this one campus to be exempted because of its sharing a campus with the public high school. I don't think that will lessen the integrity of the bill.
The staffer told me as long as this amendment is included, Sen. Lucio is G2G with the bill. So the 21st vote to suspend the rules is in tact.
