Re: Taurus 709 Slim

Not sure about the kickback to retailer but I guess its possible. I have 2 cary guns, one is the 709 and the other is the Glock 27. I love both guns but quite honestly I usually grab the 709 as feels much more comfortable, lighter and of course slimmer.

Re: Taurus 709 Slim

I had the same problem with mine shooting low left. My nephew who is a small arms instructor for the Coast Guard, took me to the range and proved to me that the problem was me. I was anticipating the recoil in a big way. We figured it was mostly due to the difference in the trigger pull in compariso...

Re: January 2011 Applications

yep yesterday mine was pending manufacture and today it says mailed. When I mailed mine from Colleyville to Austin last month it took 5 days so I am guessing at least a week more to wait. We'll see. Ok I'm done waiting, my plastic showed up today. Just about 1 month and 1 week from the time I took ...

And I'm in TX.

I have a scar on the back of my head from trying to kick down the door at the Baleneze in Galveston (also a ZZ Top song)

Yes, great question.

Nearly Choked to death

Went to Bass Pro Grapevine yesterday to get some practice in. About half way through the session I noticed it was foggy down range. I just thought they were having some difficulty with the ventilation system. As we were leaving I asked the guy behind the counter if they were having issues with the v...

Re: Finished class but dissapointed

I had a similar "bad class" experience. I probably could have nearly aced the test just from what I learned from this forum rather than what was "taught" in class. We did spend a lot of time watching old VHS videos of the instructors "other" job and a lot of time going ...

Re: Taurus 709 Slim

Yes it was failure to fire. My first box of 100 rounds with no misfires was today after the above mentioned actions. Could have been either cause but none the less I am happy with the gun now, it shoots great and straight. Taking CHL class this Saturday now I can put my mind to other things than &qu...

Re: Taurus 709 Slim

Ok here is my wrap up from my previous post... been having trouble with the new 709 FTF Problem now seems to be solved. The main 2 things I did to solve my issue are... 1. clean the snot out of it and make sure the firing pin mechanism is well oiled (as previously noted they pack a ton of grease in ...

Re: Taurus 709 Slim

I have a new 709 I bought 3 weeks ago. Love it except for one thing... I have shot about 350 rounds through the Gun with at least 10-15 FTF. I have cleaned the snot out of it and today I have "super oiled" it and will take it to the range tomorrow with a little higher grade of ammo and she...
