Re: DPS lost my paperwork and terminated my application
I called back in today and got far enough up the chain to somebody who was able to have the inventory pulled based on the information I gave them from my mail receipt. They're supposed to call me back tomorrow before 3PM with a followup, as I guess it takes some time to find and pull the inventory. ...

DPS lost my paperwork and terminated my application
I applied in Janurary, took my class in February, sent in my stuff in March. I did digital fingerprinting through L1 and sent in the paper form that L1 gave me which had the required information to retrieve the fingerprints if they didn't already have it on file. I sent in all the originals as reque...

That's awesome. That's from my old hometown (Springfield, MO).

Wow, maybe the ACLU is finally deciding the become what they claim to be (about civil liberties, all of them). Thumbs up to them for this.

Re: 30.06 Countermeasures
In light of the above, I think I am going to accelerate my plans to acquire my Tromix Saiga-12 SBS and build an AR-15 (trunk guns). I would hope it wouldn't stir too horrible of a fuss if I stroll in someplace carrying a non-descript soft-sider (bull-dog) with an SBR inside concealed.

Re: Holster suggestions for Pancake/Paddle or other form of
I went to the Saxet Gun Show today and there was a big booth of all sorts of Galco products and I tried several holsters. I found that the Galco Combat Master pancake was one of the most comfortable, so ended up walking away with one of those. I'm still looking, but couldn't find any IWB holsters of...

Re: Holster suggestions for Pancake/Paddle or other form of
why do you wear body armor? :headscratch There are several reasons involved, but put simply, my goal is survival above all else. If I can reasonably do something without largely modifying my daily life that has a significant chance of helping me to survive, I will do so. As to the holster suggestio...

Holster suggestions for Pancake/Paddle or other form of OWB
I'm in the market for holsters, and I'm needing some advice. So, I grabbed an inexpensive IWB holster from Bass Pro the other day, and have been practicing carrying at home. I realize that a cheap holster on a normal belt is not going to compare directly to a good quality holster on a gun belt, howe...

Re: 30.06 Countermeasures
Right, I understand the legal definitions of handgun. My concern is that the statute that allows concealed carry of a handgun, does not allow concealed carry of any firearm other than a handgun It doesn't prohibit it either. I'm not aware of any Texas law prohibiting carrying concealed firearms, su...

Re: 30.06 Countermeasures
Specifically, what I'm referring to is as below: (3) "Concealed handgun" means a handgun, the presence of which is not openly discernible to the ordinary observation of a reasonable person. (5) "Handgun" has the meaning assigned by Section 46.01, Penal Code. (5) "Handgun&quo...

Re: 30.06 Countermeasures
I'm trying to clarify something here, as I've seen several references to it, but I'm not understanding how this works. So, my understanding is that Texas issues Concealed Handgun Licenses, not Concealed Weapons Licenses or Concealed Carry Weapons Permits (i.e. it only allows for concealment of hand...

Re: Need copy of FAST form for CHL
Sorry I didn't update this more quickly. I was fingerprinted and everything went off without a hitch. Took about 5 minutes and they fixed it on the spot. My class is on the 8th of January, and I've been practicing twice a week at the range. I'm now getting perfect scores essentially at 3/7 yards, an...

Re: Best Virus Protection / Firewall software
If you're running Windows, oddly one of the best AV software packages currently available is also completely free. Microsoft Security Essentials catches most of the common and really nasty stuff, and for the more malware (less virus/trojan) type items, you can use Malwarebytes Anti-Malware which is ...

Re: Need copy of FAST form for CHL
Alright, well, I guess I'll try explaining it to them when I show up for my appointment on Wednesday. I've just heard some bad things about L-1 and I'm worried they won't fix it.
