Once approved, it goes into a batch to be sent to the actual card manufacturer and then prepared for the mail, so it could be a week or more. There is a contractor that does the actual grunt work of making the card, attaching it to a letter, stuffing and mailing. Probably all autmated, but still it takes some time. Five weeks may seem ling when you are holding your breath, but it isn't awful. When I got mine some time ago, it was more like two months plus, and for them it seemed fast!
