Re: Let's talk about knives

Been carrying a Kershaw Junkyard Dog for a lot longer than I thouhgt I would considering the size and weight. Some one mentioned weight and blade strength as desirable features. Junkyard certainly has that. A composite steel blade marked a Galyean Design. The blade flips open due to weight. There no...

Wild Bill's navy colt

Stark Museum in Orange currently has an exhibit of very beautiful, mostly Colts, on loan from the Museum of the American West, Autry National Center of L.A. Ca. I saw an 1851 Navy Colt that was given to Wild Bill when he was elected sheriff of Hays City Kansas. They also had a brace of pistols that w...

lead time for renewal

 sorry folks, I didn't read the list of previous posts closely enough. I saw the poll on license app times after I posted. Some took 120 days- guess I better get cracking. Did the computer part and charged my credit card tonight. Need to find an instructor next. Still would appreciate any insi...

lead time for renewal

Just got a letter from the state about renewing ,or beginning the process, by computer. I've renewed before by mail. I'm 6 months away from my chl exiration date. Anyone done this on the web? How much lead time should I allow for the DPS to do their thing? I don't want my license to expire. I have t...

I hope I read incorrectly a couple weeks ago. Strayhorn was asked about the illegal alien problem in Texas and her response if I got it right ( evrything went red for a minute) was that the taxpayer owed an education and medical care to these " immigrants" and their children. Shameless pan...

carry by county prosecutors

Does anyone know what the status is for ass't county prosecutors concerning concealed carry? Are they considered LEO's under the law? Are they required to apply for a CHL permit in order to carry? I know that they deal with the same scary characters that the police arrest every day. If it were me I ...

nra watchdogs?

I started something on Ambackforum-gun zone section about keeping current with NRA politics--who to vote for in BOD elections etc. Got some good info and Mr. Cotton was well recommended. I would be interested in everyone's opinion, look for NRA watchdog heading. I'm very interested in Mr. Cotton's t...

traveling and club

If it's just a 30mm open end wrench then it's a tool not a club. No law against that. I carry a 12 or 14 inch fish bat in my truck. A LEO pulled me over and saw it. His remark to me was "make sure you also carry a ball in your truck". The bat alone could be considered a club but if you als...

51 % signs

Thanks for the responses. I was struck by the "on premises" consumption part. This is a 7-11 type convenience store I was referring to which raises the question of how he was issued a sign when on premises consumption is illegal there and there is probably yet another notice saying that. I...

51% sign

Anyone know how the 51% sign is posted? Who determines how much business a store does related to alcohol sales? Does the store manager request the designation or does the state look at the books and order the sign posted? A place I do business with recently posted one and I find it hard to believe h...
