Re: Making first AR purchase

I'm the proud new owner if a LaRue OBR!!! Now to research and try out some optics. I'd like a close range option and then a long range. I'm going to shoot it and see what I need, as I need it. I built my rock crawler that way and have no regrets. Thanks for the input.

Re: Making first AR purchase

AB, I live in a world where "dibs" count. If i don't pick it up, I will PM you.
C-dub, I'm looking for something to complement my foil hat in preparation for the end. Well maybe not that extreme, but I would like to have a good mid range gun. I don't have any optics on my ak and need to be able to get out past that 100 yard mark. I would like to have a non bolt action gun that is reliable, extremely accurate and easy enough for anyone to operate in a time in need. I have a .270 for deer, 300 savage ultra mag for hard hitting up to a few hundred yards away. I think this rifle would fit in nicely between my 7.62 AK and those guns.

Making first AR purchase

I have a buddy that is selling his few month old LaRue 556 18" OBR. I have had my fair share of AK's, but I have never owned any AR platform rifle and know very little about them. I know LaRue is Texas owned and turns out good products from what I have seen on here. I guess the reason for my post is... Is this a good LaRue model? I shot 10 rounds out of it when he got it, and he shot 30. It has a total of 40 rounds down it and the other 960 rounds come with the sale. It has all the paper work and a 5 shot range paper dated 4-4-12. The weapon is flawless and shoots nice and tight. I don't know what that sight in the picture is, I will know more when I shoot it again tomorrow. I talked him down to 1500$ if that makes a difference in your thoughts about it, comes with everything on the gun and the case its in, plus the 960 Federal rounds. Thanks for your .02 :patriot:
