Re: Soldiers' Right to Carry

Thanks, Jim. Seems we ought to do something about that, though. But Texas law is what is studied in the class, so the course can't simply be about handling the weapon, can it? Thanks, again.

Soldiers' Right to Carry

A blurb on page 14 of the NRA's 1st Freedom Magazine states "The NRA Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA) is urging the Iowa state legislature not to exclude military service members from its new Right-to-Carry law." I haven't seen any topics addressing this issue on the forum and am...

Re: BAD gun buying experience

Admittedly haven't read all the posts in this thread, but my experience with Academy comes in several flavors. 1) First purchase - 9mm Glock; turns out it was a .40 cal. They had the documentation wrong. It was all so screwed up, I think they just wanted me happy and out of there. I was able to retu...

Re: Help With Wife's First Handgun

I'll bring this one to a close. I have many models for my wife to look at, handle, and try out. Thanks to everyone for your help. I'll come back here and post the results, but it may be around Christmas with all the models to review. Thanks again! You all are great!

Re: Help With Wife's First Handgun

Thanks, everyone! To answer at least a couple of the questions. Wife is 5'4" with hands about the size of our 12-year old grand-daughter's. We are near San Antonio, so we have several options regarding ranges. If anyone has an idea which of the SA ranges rent handguns, I would be grateful to kn...

Help With Wife's First Handgun

My wife has been taking lessons from an instructor - not me - and her instructor has advised her to purchase a larger pistol. I had originally purchased a Glock Model 26 for her. She (the instructor) recommended a Browning Hi-Power (BHP), stating that as a beginner, my wife needs a larger, as in hea...
