Re: Sept. 2010 applications

No Wally Walk yet. It just came in the mail today. DA and I need to do a walk of some sort soon, though she has already been carrying for the last week +.

For a primary carry option, we each have an S&W M&P 9C and IWB holsters - mine is an MTAC and hers is a Tucker TX Heritage. We have both been pleasantly surprised at how the M&P 9C conceals IWB and that will be the primary option except when we are at work or to/from. We have carried around the house a good bit in the last month, and unless one of us tells the other we are carrying, it is not readily apparent. As BUG/deep concealment, I have an S&W Bodyguard 380 and a DeSantis SuperFly pocket holster (should soon have a Durham Concealed Technology Ripcord), and DA has a SIG P238 with SIG belt holster, belly band (and soon a Durham Concealed Technology Comfort Carry).

Best of luck that your plastic comes today or tomorrow.

Re: Sept. 2010 applications

Plastic is in Hand!

Curiously, it appears that a governmental entity did something "helpful" in the overall process. They seem to have waited for my birthday before printing the license, thereby saving me nearly a year before I must renew.

Divided Attention and I both applied online, then took the class together from CompVest and SRVA (excellent, engaging class and really nice folks) on September 25. Materials were sent to DPS on Sept. 27. Once the materials had been officially recieved and entered in the system we noticed that each step was completed at the same time up to the Manufacturing stage. Within a couple of days, the status for Divided Attention changed to Mailed, but mine did not. She received her plastic a couple of days before my birthday. My birthday came and then the day after my status changed to mailed. Now -- six calendar days later -- I have plastic.

I don't know if there is a policy in place regarding printing on or near someone's birthday, or if some observant person at DPS did me a favor. Whatever the case, it saved me nearly a year before renewal time.

Re: Sept. 2010 applications

Divided Attention mailed our checklists and supporting documents today, so I guess we have officially joined the ranks of those waiting... We applied OnLine and did not have to send the complete packet in. We'll let you know how long it takes as we find out. In the interim, getting the pieces together for a successful lifestyle change -- carry guns, holsters, more SD ammo and car safes for the vehicles. Primary EDC guns are already sourced, but looking for backup/deep concealment/pocket guns. Currently looking at the M-TAC as far as holster is concerned for the primary for me (maybe also for DA).
