Well, the simple, non-descript envelope arrived today! A month and a day from CHL class to license. Realizing how slowly governmental authorities move, not bad at all. I guess it pays to have a clean record...

Hi all, new to the Forum. Finally took the plunge. Application information appeared on the TX DPS website today. Pending items are fingerprints and background check. Have already had several BCs for work, but I never underestimate the ability of government to screw something up. We'll see how long it takes...
Haven't decided on a carry weapon yet. I have a Sig 226R and Glock 19, both of which are on the large size for me to carry, and an old Sterling 400 .380 which fits great, but is not the most reliable feeder. I may have to break the news to my wife that a new handgun is in my future.
