The thinner all evaporates anyway, but it keeps the dust down. It doesn't act as lube. The cases are dry to the touch. I've tried it with the thinner and without. I like the results better with.JamesM wrote:I know what the Nu-finish is for, and I assume that the dryer sheets are for static (are you using corn cob?), but the paint thinner has me stumped...maybe for dust. Since the thinner is oily, do you still use case lube?Jumping Frog wrote:I've found using walnut media with about a 1/2 cup of paint thinner, a capful of Nu-Finish, and a cut up dryer sheet minimizes all those issues and give a great shine to the brass.JamesM wrote:The vibratory type also has many drawbacks, dust, bits of media on the floor and in the press, etc. etc.,
I don't use corn cob anymore, I use ground walnut shells. It doesn't clog the cases like corn cob and I think it does a better job of cleaning.

To give some sense of size, that bag will fill a 5 gallon bucket with about 3 gallons left over. It is a lot of media.
I use the cut up dryer sheets (used not new) because the dirt that collects on the cut up dryer sheets is dirt that is not contaminating the walnut media, so the walnut media lasts longer. With a family of five running constant laundry, I have an unlimited supply of used dryer sheets.
