Re: Why you shouldn't talk to the police
{Jumping Frog: Below are my personal notes that I took while watching an episode on "Personal Defense TV" a couple of years ago, summarizing Massad Ayoob's 5 critical points to remember immediately following a shooting. I believe these are within TOS, because they are my personal notes --...

Re: Out-of-state CHL Permit
The Federal "Gun Free School Zone" exemption for those issued a license by "the State in which the school zone is located," is another real good/even better reason. I'd hate to get pulled over for speeding/holding a cell phone etc in a GFSZ and hand the officer a PA/FL/Utah CHL,...

Re: 45 brass looks burned
When it is all sooty like that, it is usually because the powder load is too light. A too light load burns dirty. Also, under normal firing pressures a case expands to fill the firing chamber. If the pressure is too low, the case doesn't fully expand and you get combustion gases back on the outside ...

Not enough information to really know, but here is one scenario: The Fire Marshall shows him his badge and says, "Give me the gun".seamusTX wrote:How did an unarmed firefighter disarm an armed man?
Any one of us would give up our gun after a shooting to an LEO demanding we do so.

I noticed the licensee had to flee the scene with multiple people chasing him after he had been disarmed.

Re: Keeping a Weapon in my car at work.
. . . how often does your employer search your personal vehicle? I don't know about y'all but I'm 40 years old and have been working since I was 17, and not once in 23 years has my vehicle been searched by my employer. I've never had an employer ask to search my vehicle either. In a previous life, ...

Re: Saw your gun !
Wow, I can see this is going to be a cultural adjustment for me when I move to Houston. Open Carry is legal in Ohio, so most concealed carriers don't sweat it if they reveal their handgun. I usually carry IWB with my tucked in shirt bloused out over my grip, but sometimes I just wear it IWB with my ...

Re: CHL Insurance
A lot of these so-called concealed carry defense networks are also just scams. I won't single any out, but I would absolutely, 100%, without question or reservation advise against subscribing to them. First, do you really want to be represented by a lawyer who will accept your MURDER or manslaughter...

Sometimes I'd just like to BOIL the BATF son-of-a-guns in OIL.

Thanks for the replies. It is as important to know how a law is applied as knowing what the law is.

Re: Signs for the CHLer
Hello from Ohio. I thought I'd start familiarizing myself with Texas Concealed Carry because I have three brothers that live in Texas and I am planning on moving down in the future. First, the whole point of my questions is to understand Texas law (obviously), but my frame of reference right now is ...

Re: HomeOwners Insurance companies that don't penalize reloa
The only time I see it as a risk of an insurance company denying the claim is if you are breaking the fire code. The national standard fire code used in most states sets residential limits for primers and powder. The code primer limit is 10,000 primers or less. The code powder limit for smokeless or...

Re: Felonies on Record
Per federal law, conviction of a crime for which you could have been sentenced to prison for a year or more permanently bars you from owning a firearm--the only way around this AFAIK is to get pardoned. Depending upon the state, if state law has a process for sealing or expunging convictions, then ...

Re: OH: Shooting range shut down over building code violatio
The Powder Room is open again. After they found bullet holes in the building exterior, they did some maintenance, passed inspection, and are back to normal. However, another terrific local range, the Big Darby Creek Shooting Range is still under a court order shutting them down. A local business got...
