Unless is a matter of harassment or theft, we have a policy of only giving employees once chance to go above their direct boss. Twice and your fired. Once an employee knows they can go around their boss, they will continue to....forever.
Also, I am in no way encouraging you to break any laws or policies, but keep in mind that oral notice is about as good as the paper it is written on.
Sure is. Folks know who their boss is and the managers know who they are managing. Those above the managers are paid to manage the managers, not every single employee in the building.
