You're kidding right?

Wikipedia, but it seems close to what I've read if not right on:

"Below is a list of countries by Industrial output in 2010. Output is in millions of US$.

Rank Country Output

1 United States - 3,239,374
2 China - 2,756,903
3 Japan - 1,359,259
4 Germany - 921,749
5 Brazil - 560,204
6 Russia - 539,149
7 Italy - 519,944
8 United Kingdom - 489,945
9 France - 477,767
10 Canada - 413,975"
Thanks for posting that. It's amazing how few people realize that we are still #1. We just don't make the inexpenive consumer goods, we make higher-end stuff mostly.

the bad news is China will reach parity with the US this month

Re: Made in America

American industry has pretty much abandoned anything made in quantity that sells for under $200.
There just isn't the money in it. No sense making something if there is no profit, so why not make something for which there is little or no competition, or for which cost is a non-issue.

Re: Made in America

I'm tired of hearing that we don't make anything anymore. :banghead:
Do you realize the the U.S. is still the largest manufacturing country in the world?
Almost 20% of products made in the entire world are made right here.

"Last year, the US created 19.9 per cent of world manufacturing output, compared with 18.6 per cent for China, with the US staying ahead despite a steep fall in factory production due to the global recession."

We build high-end stuff, China makes the consumer-grade
