Re: What's the Origin of Your User Name?

My name means "plainsman" in Spanish. It also carries connotations of being a cowboy, but I am not a cowboy though. I do however, live on a plain, and not just any plain, but the famous and unique, Llano Estacado named by Spanish conquistador Francisco Vasquez de Coronado.

Re: close call

Greetings fellow Odessan. :tiphat: When I was reading your post, I immediately knew which car wash shortcut you were talking about. I have used that shortcut myself a few times and fortunately, I have never encountered any trouble there but I can certainly see how it could happen. I am glad that eve...

Re: What should I have done = 51% sign

It sounded like one of those "wrong color sign" scenarios. I guess you could look at it a couple of different ways (if the sign had been correct). One was that you could have gone directly out to your car and left your gun there...probably what I would have done. The second is that you ha...

Re: What should I have done = 51% sign

I had an experience like this recently too. I went to a restaurant to pick up a to-go order. The order was wrong so I had to change it and a manager had to come and take the old order of out the register. She was obviously annoyed but was still being polite. A man was there with two big stacks of ca...

Re: Its not worth it.....

Wow, two things I think you should have done differently

1. Actually apologize, say "I'm sorry". That might be more effective than just saying "it's no big deal".
2. Don't call him a dummy, that is an escalation.

I am glad everything worked out for you.

Re: I had a dream (mixed feelings)

Interesting. I was wondering if other CHLers had dreams about their CHLs and handguns. Fortunately I haven't had any dreams about having to shoot someone, but I have been having a recurring dream lately about needing to take a test for my CHL. The dreams can differ in the details but follow the same...

Re: Don't talk to police??

I agree with Jones, there is nothing wrong with informing people of their of their 5th amendment rights, even if she is on the city council. Ideally, she should inform them of their 2nd amendment rights as well.

Re: Shots fired at UT Campus...

I was riding my bicycle heading for the UT campus (as I commute through there pretty often) when I saw all the police showing with sirens blaring. I was at the edge of the campus when the police cars cut off traffic. Before I took the CHL course I would have hung around to see what was "going ...
