Re: safe that will fit under my seat?
That's odd. mine didnt have any strong smells when I bought it. It did have a smell to it, like most new things (even my gun safe had that "new" smell), but it wasnt overpowering or even strong to the point that it caused me any concern.

Kitchen scissors, not a chance. Kliens, maybe. Bolt cutters, yes. But, I doubt many smash and grab thieves would be carrying around bolt cutters. They usually just bust out a window, grab what is loose, and rip out the stereo. Very few tools needed, and a pair of bolt cutters would certainly be cumbersome.

Re: safe that will fit under my seat?
Glove boxes are easily opened with a screw driver and bare hands by any able bodied man. I've had to do it on my 90 mustang once. Just pry the corner out far enough to get your fingers in, and yank. It pops right open. The safe would require far too much time for a smash and grab thief, and unless he had a pair of bolt cutters with him (highly unlikely in a vehicle burglary), he wouldnt be able to take it with him either. Mine came with a 1500# wire cable.RoyGBiv wrote:Is the lock on your Bio safe going to stand up better to forced entry than the lock on your glove box?Teamless wrote:I have 2 similar gun safes. but the ones I have a biometric, (fingerprint scanner to quick open)RoyGBiv wrote:but would love to hear some feedback from current users.
Suppose I already have a huge glove box with what seems to be a reasonably solid lock.... Why bother with a separate safe?
(just playing advocate, looking for details.. thanks.)

Re: safe that will fit under my seat?
I have one of these that stays in my car:
http://www.gunvault.com/handgun-safes/n ... t-300.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I did have to fix the cable once. The crimp job from the factory on one end was no good and the end slipped out, but after a few turns in the vice, it is tight as can be. Aside from that, I have had no issues with it. I occasionally swap it from my car to my truck, it holds my XD and spare mag, and slides under the seat with ease. Even with the door open, you would never know it was there unless you were looking under the seat for it. i bought it at Academy for $29.
