The folks that gave them up deserved to lose them. Then again you are talking about NYC and California. These places have nothing to do with how the real America thinks. In the last 15 years we have made gains not loses. There was a time that here in Texas we weren't even allowed to carry a handgun on our person.. So far the only legislative action Ive seen as a reaction to the shootings is this as explained by Glenn Reynolds:
The NRA would like us to believe the sky is gonna fall. The Liberal press will call for gun control, but its just not going to happen. We will continue to make progress in Texas. We will continue to see stupid assault weapon bans presented and allowed to die in Congress. No one is going to come to our doors and take our guns away. Next sept. It is a true tragedy in Virginia, and the politicians are loading up on their rhetoric with the sole intention of scaring the stuffs out of us.
