A robbery is a robbery and he was justified.
Probably was scared, and let his fear talk out of turn. An example of what NOT to say to the police (or your boss?) afterwards.

If the statement isn't totally factual, it can go a long way to "admitting" guilt. It's hard to make it look like you didn't intend to shoot the BG if you drew the weapon and pointed it at him while being assaulted. I can understand that in the rush of the moment he didn't realize that his finger pulled the trigger. But pointing the gun shows intent to shoot, even if you are lawfully defending yourself. However, I'm sure that the clerk won't have much issue proving that he had no choice. He had every legal right to stop the threat. :tiphat:
