Re: May 2010 Applications

mcall008 wrote:At what point should I be concerned that there is an issue? Is there anyway for me to get an update from DPS? It sounds like calling is a waste of time.
Hi and welcome! Hang in there! In all the calls I made, I found them to be frustrating because I could not get ANY information that I did not already have access to via the DPS website. However, I did seem to feel better after calling. If something is up they will send you notification. I had to re-do my affidavits.
coryeller wrote:I'm just three days ahead of you (May 14 delivery to DPS) and I only get "unable to access..." and "you've exceeded more than one login attempt in 24 hours" messages when I try to check status. No word via USPS either. Oh well, I guess this all part of the fun.
Hi and welcome to you as well! You and I both had delivery status on the 14th. I'm like Clutch, I bet I was checking thousands of times a day and I never received a "unable to access..." and "you've exceeded more than one login attempt in 24 hours" message!! I wonder what's up with that?
Clutch wrote:Talk to Rene or Rebecka, they seem to be the most helpful.. not that I have called or anything...
That is just too funny!!! Did you find out anything from them about your application?

koolaid wrote:I understand that they need a complete application, I really do. It seems ridiculous, though, that in the age of Google maps and USPS ZIP code lookups that they spend the time and money to send back and hold up an entire application for something they could look up in ten seconds on any computer.
This happened to another guy in my CHL class and we all said the exact same thing! Ridiculous!
Clutch wrote:Am I reading this right?
I think your reading it right. I posted this as I was trying to get out the door and did not read it thoroughly. There's no mention of federal taxes so you should be good to go here.

Clutch wrote:Think I should call and find out what the hold up is?
No. This is a waste of time!
Clutch wrote:The only other thing I could think of is that I have not paid my federal taxes for last year. I haven't read anywhere that delinquent federal income taxes would disqualify or hold you up?? I did file an extension and my CPA says I'm good. Anybody know anything about that!???
Look under GC §411.172 Eligability section 11. Not sure how the extension would affect this.......but this may be your hold up. Good luck........I'm pulling for ya!

Re: May 2010 Applications

Clutch - We both submitted on the same day and had similar problems........I just don't understand how they're still "hung up" on your background check! I suspect that you've called and not found out anything, right?

Hi and Welcome! Glad you decided to join in! Looks like your plastic will be on it's way soon! Mine only took 2 days in the manufacturing pending stage and then 3 days after mailed status.

* Background Check : Under review
For some reason the BGC's are taking longer this month. Hang in there.......it's worth the frustration! When you get your plastic, you won't even remember the wait.
millenix wrote:May 21st - Packet Mailed
June 18th - Background check passed

It's been on Manufacturing Pending since Friday, so waiting on it to mail.
Your in the home stretch! Won't be long now!

Your probably right about your frequent moves in the past five years as being the hold up. I'd be willing to bet your plastic is not far behind me!

Congratulations on your Nevada CFP!

DocNTexas wrote:Called DPS on 06/20/10, was advised it was currently taking 45 day average for renewals and 60 for new applications. Cited increase in apps as reason for delay. She has nothing that would delay background check.
I'm also sorry to hear this. Seems unusual considering the average wait times posted in this forum. I totally understand your frustration. I found calling the DPS/CHL to be a waste of my time, I could never talk to anyone who actually had viable answers. I mostly got "the runaround"!

Good luck and keep us posted.

Re: May 2010 Applications

Hang in there Clutch! Patience is a virtue and an imperative in this situation!

creekwilly - I had 3 friends that I took my class with and they all received their plastic last week! I had a "notary" issue with my affidavits and DPS sent them back to me (even though my friends had the exact same notary) and I'm only about a week behind them.

Re: May 2010 Applications

Rvrrat14 - Yes your getting the standard reply when calling. These guys who answer calls at 1-800-224-5744 have limited database access and can only provide you your current status from the same source as the webpage that you have access to! I know it's frustrating but patience is the only solution! Backgrounds can be the slowest part of the process.

They received my application on 05.14.10 and my status just changed to mailed today!

Good luck! I know your pain!!!
