Re: Unposted Blood Donation?
Carter Bloodcare has recently started contacting me with emails several times a week. I respond to every one of those emails, politely telling them that I was a maximum donor for many years and will be again when the signs come down. Of course, there is no response.

The staff urged me to complain, too. I wrote emails and even sent a hardcopy letter. I received no response. I asked to be taken off of their contact lists and the phone calls have stopped but I still get an occasional email. I respond to everyone that I'd happily start donating again - when the 30.06 sign comes down. I don't have an issue in that environment with the 30.07 sign.Loop4fun wrote:I donated a few days ago at N. Preston location. I told the supervisor it would likely be my last donation as long as they had the 30.06 sign posted. The techs encouraged me to complain. Their donations have dropped have been off slightly since the sign was posted. (maybe for other reasons)
I left an email with Carter, but have had no response.
I predict that, no matter how much their donations drop off, they will never change their policy. Like Sprout's Farmers Market, they would go out of business before compromising.

Re: Unposted Blood Donation?
I thought this was interesting.
Yes, the incident started outside of normal hours since this store is not open on Mondays and doesn't have normal hours any day after 8pm. But it does make the point that this particular store, which is the one that I walked away from after they posted a 30.06 sign, was the target for an attack

Re: Unposted Blood Donation?
Such is the Liberal way of thinking. Probably the most ironic part of this is that they are making their stores "safer for our customers and employees" by banning the safest group of Texas citizens. I'm still amazed at the 2014 statistics where the number of licenses increased by 200,000 and the crime rate among license holders continued to improve versus the general population. Sure, let's make everything safer by keeping the ones that have a proven record of being 22 times better. SMH. Their advertising pleads the worthy cases of the many people who need blood - until their politics gets in the way.C-dub wrote:Kind of ironic if they setup to collect blood at a gun show after recently posting .06 and .07 signs at all of their fixed sites, isn't it?chasfm11 wrote:I searched the calendars and could find no dates for a gun show in Dallas. Free admission to the gun show is way better than a t-shirt.

Re: Unposted Blood Donation?
That's my plan, too. I think that we can be courteous but firm. I remember a couple of years ago when New Mexico started to play with Texas reciprocity. The deluge of calls and letters got them to change their mind. I'm hoping that Carter will do the same. Since there are no other viable options at the moment, I'll remain ready to donate if they do.n5wmk wrote:OP, to answer your original question, I'm not aware of any place in the north Dallas for blood donations other than Carter that is not posted.
I went by the Carter Blood Care facility on McDermott in Allen this morning, and yes they do have valid 30.06 and 30.07 signs posted.
I will make calls on Monday cancelling my upcoming donation appointment, and to let them know that I will not be entering their facility in the future while the 30.06 signs are up, and will follow that by a courteous and hopefully informative letter to their management.

Re: Unposted Blood Donation?
The employee told me today that Carter did have "smaller signs" (her words) for a couple of weeks and just recently posted the ones that I saw today. I didn't measure the letter size today but I'm very certain they were 1". There was nothing else wrong with them and I added the item to texas3006.n5wmk wrote:I went to the Carter Blood center in Allen on Monday, Jan 11. They had a new sign stating "No concealed or open carried handguns allowed." Not valid 30.06 or 30.07 signs, so I carried inside like I've been doing for the past 6+ years.
I'm a regular there, platelets about every 2 weeks for over 20 years at Carter in Plano and Allen. I'm north of 50 gallons now. I will drive by and check tomorrow, and if they have valid signs they will hear from me that I won't be entering again as long as the 30.06 sign is in place.
I'm still looking for input on where I can donate to an unposted organization. I'll drive. I'm O positive and they have always been anxious to get me a chair before. I'm planning to write a letter to the corporate location and ask them to reconsider. If enough of us do the same, perhaps there is hope of getting the 3006 sign down.

Re: Unposted Blood Donation?
The employees at Lewisville say that it was a corporate decision. I called the corporate number (817-412-500) and asked for the "donor advocacy group". They did not pick up so I left a message with my contact information.steveincowtown wrote:I have an donation appt. at my usual Carter Blood Care in Fort Worth next week. They weren't posted last go around and I hope they are not next week. Will report back.
If they are posted I won't be donating.
Carter Bloodcare may be small enough that a flood of calls with people saying that they will no longer donate may result in a policy change. I'm guessing that they may be one of those organizations that simply posted the 30.06 now because they didn't know about it before and would have done it years ago. In that case, they never capitulate and take the 30.06 sign down.

Unposted Blood Donation?
Today, went to give blood at my normal Carter Bloodcare location in Lewisville. They have posted both 30.06 and 30.07 signs.
I spoke with a couple of the employees who know me as a regular, multi-gallon donor and they are as concerned about the signs as I am. Apparently, the new rules for employees are even more strict on knives etc. I filed a formal complain, specifically saying that concern was the 30.06 and that would never be back and they could stop bothering to call me until that sign comes down.
The irony is the Carter has a bunch of mobile units and uses other locations for donations. Unless they hang the signs on the mobiles or the other locations are schools (as they sometimes are) they really haven't done much of anything.
The employee at Carter told me that Red Cross was getting signs, too. Does anyone know of a blood donation point that isn't posted? I would really like to give but it won't be through Carter until their policy changes.
