Re: Ruger American
The trigger was actually very light. Book said it's adjustable from 3 to 5 lbs, but I thought it was perfect. It's very similar to Savage's Accutrigger. As soon as you press the pin flush with the trigger, it fires. Really eliminates play or excessive trigger pull. I'm not sure what size rings are o...

Re: Ruger American
Just got back from hunting & sighted it in...shoots like a dream! Only took a few shots to get it dialed in, and let the wife finish the box. Unfortunately, she likes it & told me "paws off"! "rlol" Guess I'll have to wait a while & get one of my own for a coyote slay...

Re: New To Hunting: A few questions
I'd also recommend visiting some local feed stores. Sometimes they know of landowners looking to either lease hunting land or that have day hunts available. I've also had friends that met land owners who offered them free hunting for does just to keep the population down. I never got an offer like t...

Re: Ruger American
Just stripped it & cleaned it. It was filthy, probably due to the factory packing. It really is a slick little rig. The only thing that concerns me is the magazine & well. The magazine well walls are very thin, & the magazine seems kind of cheap. It has one thin plastic tab that secures ...

Ruger American
Went to the local Academy armed with a sale flier. I've been looking for a nice, entry-level hunting rifle for my wife, and had read a lot of excellent reviews on the new Ruger American. Expected them to be sold out, but they had a .243 and the scope (Nikon Prostaff 3-9X50 BDC) i wanted in stock. Sn...

DPS in Gonzalez County
The family & I were going from San Antonio to Houston this weekend. It was dark, light traffic, so I was scootin pretty good. The wife was knocked out cold on her pillow, drool and all. I saw two units in the grass on the right past the shoulder, but it was too late. I saw him roll onto I-10, lo...

New 1911
Well, I broke down and did it. Always wanted a 1911 and found a great deal on a Para GI Expert in stainless. I usually carry a Glock 23 (IWB & OWB), but know that a lot of folks are able to carry a full size 1911 pretty easily. Looking for holster suggestions once I'm trough my break in period a...

Re: Concealed Gun Survey
4th Gen Glock 23 with 2 extra magazines full of Federal Hydra-Shock. I use a Galco IWB (similar to a Cross Breed) and various OWB rigs depending on weather and clothes.

Re: Weapon suggestions for the wife?
As everyone else has pointed out, SHE has to feel comfortable with whatever she ends up carrying. My wife had the same problem. I have Glocks, but she doesn't like them or the caliber. We rented a few guns at ranges to see if we could find something she liked. After a CHL class had finished up, the ...

Wife's Driving Vacation--Need help
My wife has been through the CHL class but has not received her plastic yet. Don't worry--we're both AD military and have shot Berretta M9s numerous times (just don't ask her who has more marksmanship ribbons on our uniforms--I can't take the answer again!!)--she can shoot...well! My question in on ...

Re: AR-15 Plastic or metal?
I have a Bushmaster Carbon AR-15 and have put 800+ rounds through it. I received it as a gift, and was apprehensive at first. The only difference I have noticed between it and aluminum receivers is that it is much lighter...that's it. I have never had any issues with it--minus 2 FTEs, but they were ...

Bushmaster Carbon AR15
I got a Carbon Bushmaster a couple of months ago and love it. Haven't had any issues with it except for one FTE, but I was shooting cheap, steel cased stuff (TulAmmo). The only complaint I have with it is concerning the magazine well--it won't drop magazines freely. I've tried various magazines (met...

Re: AR 15 Magpul Industries B.A.D. Lever
Took it to the range today and put about 300 rounds through it. The bolt kept locking to the rear when the magazine was not empty. It was essentially a cool looking bolt action rifle. Took the B.A.D. lever off and it ran flawlessly. Guess I'll have to wait for Magpul to come out with a B.A.D. lever ...

Re: AR 15 Magpul Industries B.A.D. Lever
It is a carbon. My son put it on (best of intentions but little experience), so I removed it and reinstalled. You're right--you really can't put it on wrong, but it was pretty loose. I tightened it up and it still does it. I did find that if I pull the charging handle back, use the B.A.D. lever (pus...

AR 15 Magpul Industries B.A.D. Lever
My son just got me my first AR (Bushmaster), and he decked it out with a bunch of Magpul accessories. One of them is the B.A.D. Lever, and I have some questions. I've used the M-16/M-4 platform in the military for years, and this is my first experience with this product. Absolutely LOVE the one-hand...
