Re: FFL still running E-Check when i have a CHL holders
that is very correct, but how often do they walk up on these types of events?Bullwhip wrote:Yes you do because theres' nothing illegal about selling a rifle.
Once he did, I do not fault him for detaining while investigating. Maybe that is my naivety kicking in, but how many times have we all seen this type of 'detainment" happen - ever watched cops?
Yes they only show the ones that had bad outcomes, but most of the time they tell the potentially bad guy "I am only detaining you for my safety and yours, until we determine what is really going on".
I am assuming this is legally allowed to happen, or they certainly wouldn't show it on ever episode

Not sure how it was wrong.Bullwhip wrote:nobody pointed out the whole detention was wrong?
if the officer thought the law was being broken, he can detain you until he figures out what is going on.
In the end, was it wrong, yes, but in the beginning, when he sees 2 people making a gun deal, well, until you have the facts, do you assume it is all legal? not sure

I would answer him, if you come knocking without a warrant you won't find any guns, with a warrant, you will find however many I have that day.9mmLover wrote:so if i come knocking on your door, ill only find 5 guns right?

[quote="Oldgringo"What doesn't sound sinister about 'in car' sales of guns[/quote]
you are right, it sounds sinister, but it should not have to be that way.
While it is however, the parties involved need to use common sense and don't be drawing attention to the sale.

Very true, jordanmills wrote:Kind of hard to conceal a long gun
I guess as this is the CHL forum, I assume the gun is not a long gun.
And even if it is, I surely would try to do a sale in a location that would try not to cause any alarm with anyone.
However, the OP has not stated what type of gun (or I have overlooked it) and no ideas what precautions he took.
I mean really, I won't go to McD's parking lot to make this deal, but could go to any local mall, to the far corner of the lot and no one would see a thing.

how did the cop see the gun?9mmLover wrote:while doing a gun trade with a guy i met on texas gun trader, Houston police drove by and saw the gun,
Concealed is concealed, even when doing a sale, unless you are in a store or other area to sell/buy weapons
I have done 2 'in car' sales of guns, you keep them low and out of sight, any more than that, you are not concealed.
