Re: Pictures Of Your Daily Carry

I've been carrying my new RIA compact tactical model for a little over a month now after having done a "breakin" and run through with carry ammo. I did a couple of mods to suit my taste which included a Wilson trigger and ambi safety, some Ergo XT grips, and a "fluff and buff". It's a great shooting gun and is much easier to carry in hotter weather than the government model I had been carrying.

Here's a shot of them together.

Re: Pictures Of Your Daily Carry

I am very impressed with the PT1911. I have read some excellent things about the gun and narrowed it down to the Taurus or a Rock Island Armory 1911. I have read some peoples comments and dislikes of the gun, but it was on early models (2006) and that some have complained of Taurus' customer service. When I held it and was able to feel it firsthand, I was quite happy with the quality of the gun. I have friends who have various Tauri(?) and all have seemed to be extremely reliable and a good bang for the buck. The fit and finish, while not that of something like a Wilson Combat, is very good. It also costs a quarter of the price. The lockup is excellent for what it is and the slide to frame fit is tight and the trigger feels quite good for a high volume, off the shelf "budget" model. The trigger breaks very cleanly at a crisp 4lb with no real discernible creep. I have had a chance to take it to the range several times and have since put over 500 rounds through the gun. After the first time out with it I changed out the plastic "double diamond" grips as the checkering on it was too aggressive and the look was rather plain. I replaced them with a set from VZ. The gun is highly accurate and will group under 2" at 15 yards. I have shot several Kimbers (which I like) and feel it was easily as accurate and as well put together (maybe better so on a few accounts) as some of their lower end models costing a grand or more.
