HighHandicap wrote:WOOHOO!! I'm also now in the "Mailed" status!! Since I live in Pflugerville (on the North border of Austin) maybe I'll get my license today or tomorrow! I hope it's today because I'm wearing my Wally Walk Aloha shirt and my CrossBreed SuperTuck (no pistol, of course). I'm hoping that the license was actually mailed yesterday or Wednesday and it took the system a day or two to update to mailed status.

You can guarantee I'll be stalking that mailbox this afternoon and this weekend!

:hurry: :cheers2: :woohoo
I am hoping for ya... and it's about time! :hurry:

I gotta tell ya... waiting for the mail to arrive was the most frustrating of all the steps. Who'd a thunk it would take 4 days to mail something from Austin to Houston?

Hey, I drink beer too and would be more than willing to buy a round!

HighHandicap wrote:To hold myself over, I just ordered a Glock 19 from Buds. I keep telling myself it's for the wife, but it's not. It will compete with my FNP9 to be my carry/IDPA weapon. :fire :fire
HH, I am continuing to follow your saga and it drives me nuts but just hang tough... it will happen. Regarding the G19, you made a good choice. It's for sure a very reliable weapon. I have never had a single FTE, FTF, etc. with the Glock. Of the three I have, they haven't given me a bit of grief no matter what the ammo is I pump through them. You have to love that.

I'm still carrying the G19 and G26 on a daily basis and trying to decide which will be my primary. The G26 hides a bit better but the G19 is such a sweet piece.

Best luck to you...

knb wrote:Well more good news. My wife's application was completed on 04-29-10 exactly one month after DPS received it and the plastic showed up Saturday on May 1st! My application that was received by DPS the same day show "Manufacturing" as of today. Given that they have now changed the website and the language they use I can only assume that mine is approved and the plastic will show in a few days!
Fantastic knb! :thumbs2: :thewave

Hang tough there, High... it's bound to change any time now. And as I think you mentioned, there's a decent chance it already has but they haven't run the batch job that updates the status on the system.

Wally Walk Report

I donned the Hawaiian shirt over my regular T-shirt and the wife and I went to Wally World for some food items. Walking in the front door, I felt like everyone in the place was staring at me. A very odd feeling indeed since I go there just about everyday and no one seems to notice! LOL :

Anyway, that lasted for all of about 5 mins before I was completely satisfied and comfortable that no one was really paying any attention to me. We walked most of the store picking up a few things, checking out, etc. and it was a non-issue. When I got out into the parking lot, I took off my Hawaiian shirt, folded it and put in on the cart. I think that probably drew more attention imagining that folks probably thought I stole the shirt. Hehe

After that, we went to Subway for lunch, U-Haul to get our propane tanks refilled, and then home. The only time I think the grip might have printed against my shirt was when I leaned over the trunk to arrange the propane bottles but the young man helping didn't seem to pay it any mind so I think it was just me.

Wife insists it's all in my head because she couldn't tell and she was confident no one else could either.

Once we get the ladies used to us carrying, we could possibly get them into the next CFL class. I think if the women get together, they might actually go through with it. The wife has her own gun but needs more estrogen encourgament!!!
Check out the Women's Program at PSC. I don't think you have to be a member to participate. PM me for more info and an email address to get more info.

Date: Saturday, May 1, 2010
Start Time: 8:45 am End Time: 12:00 pm
(Time Zone: US/Central)

Whoops! I hadn't seen Teamless' posts on the Womens Program before I posted this. One word of advice... if she doesn't already have a gun, have her use one of the loaner 22s that PSC has. You wouldn't want her to start off with something that scares her needlessly.
Any code word ideas for a 5 and 9 year old for the CC firearm?
Daddy, can we go for ice cream?:
